Yikes! OK. Well the Ram Jet thing makes sense. No, I had no idea there would be atmospheric flight as well. (pretty cool). No, I guess I have not played his other games. I do vaguely remember Wing Commander but I was just a kid back then and I barely remember it beyond; it had a cockpit.

So, that clears it up. I thought it was just an incredibly stupid design, as in, a radiator fan in the vacuum of space - LOL.

Have a lil Faith. I take Roberts at his word. The main thing will be keeping the majority of the funding out of the hands of greedy investment banker types that have to turn a million into a billion and end up ruining the fun, killing the fan base, tanking their own profits, and walking away wondering why this was such a bad investment.

So back the project, I did.

Good on them!

Still here we go again.

War is violent.

Documentaries about war are violent

Movies are violent.

TV shows are violent.

Books are violent. Think teenagers forced to hunt each other TO THE DEATH!

War reenactments, boys playing soldier, cartoons, on and on and on... nothing in all of our culture that is obsessed with violence, or human nature in general, has anything to do with creating violence it would seem.

It's just that one video game with violence in it that will turn you into a mass murderer......right.

I can't watch even one one cop drama (I will pick "Bones" which I love) on prime time broad cast television without seeing: torture, rape, mass shootings, child abuse, terrorist bombings, corpses that have been; burned, poisoned, strangled, buried alive, blown up, chopped up, dissolved in acid, fed to animals, stabbed, thrown from a plane and well anything you can think of.

In the end though life is merely a reflection of video games. I blame the Call of Duty franchise for starting WWII.

This is easy stuff folks.

This gives me hope. I have wanted another Homeworld for years. I still dust the old ones off now and again. I remain positive on this one. If someone bought the IP perhaps they have seen enough interest in a reboot/sequel to give it serious thought. The entire genre is lacking in a quality title for some time. I think the appetite is whet for something like this. I almost got behind the Kickstarter just yesterday. I want this so bad.

**Uses mental powers to reach across the void** Hear me now mystery IP buyer!! Give us new Home world. Take my monies!!!

Valve did right by the customer I guess.

Still since when do you get to buy something like say a book that has you know a story then throw a fit because the author made a choice in said story that offends you.

OK. OK. You have the right to throw a fit, we all do. You can never buy anything from that author again. Hell you can swear off books, but there is no reason anyone owes you damn dime. There is certainly no reason your little over sensitive lame ass should make news with it.

This whole thing is so stupid and yet here we are playing into it.

This isn't about religion or freedom of speech. Let's not pretend it is.

This is about the large scale wussification of the world and the feeling that if you are offended you deserve restitution.

@ CriticalCritic - "...doesn't that mean killing in a video game = real murder, and he's fine with that?" - LOL

Yeah he is too offended to watch a fictional character get a make believe baptism because he thinks that equals real blasphemy?? OK, fine. I am not even sure I understand his problem with it but I guess we all have the right to be offended but a refund!?

How much you wanna bet that somewhere (or everywhere) in his house there are pictures and little figurines of Jesus and angels and what not?

According to the bible, that is actual real life blasphemy.

I am offended just hearing about this guy. I want a refund! This guy makes news for being a @#$&@%*. We should all get refunds for this.

In fact this guy is a waste of space his parents should get a refund!!

Jesus Christ!!! (oops. I'll give you a refund if I offended you). If we all got refunds for everything that offended us......um.....I'm not an economist but maybe I just stumbled onto something.

I am just happy to see any effort in the genre. It is so depressing to see the space sim genre languish in an era of gaming hardware that could bring so much to the table. I would kill for a current gen Homeworld, Masters of Orion, or X style game that made a REAL effort.

I have not played EVE but I sure have looked hard at it. No game to date has got me to pay a monthly sub.

Still when the big houses just get to recycle engines, guns, perks, maps and slap together a non-sense 5 hour story and rest on the multi-player formula over and over again while staying on tight 1 year cycles just to reap in billion dollar profits. Of course I am looking at COD here. They are fun games and I do play them but it's gotten to be a disease.

Take X-COM for example. The turn based strategy genre rarely sees a serious entry but they got that one right and it was a breath of fresh air. In the current gaming market it takes guts just say screw it we want to make a game that is not just another shooter and we are going to go big or go home.

The big houses stay on safe predictable turf because it takes lots of time and money to crank out current games and they hedge their bets by keeping big franchises cranking the next installment out. Launching an new and original IP is seen as dangerous and it can be.

So, why Kickstarter? Yeah, why not. Throw a line out and see if there is enough interest on the front end before you mortgage the whole farm. I say I'm in. Yes that means we the gamers are taking some of the risk. Ahem, The War Z can kiss my .....oh well...it sounded nice at the time. Let's not forget that they risk their reputation with us as well. Ahem, The War Z.

In the end though they are just asking me the gamer if I like an idea enough to chip in and give a risky idea a shot of shaking things up a bit. I say hell yes. There was a time when you did just that. You bought a game based on the cover. You had no idea if it was destined to be a classic or just the thing to soon be collecting dust on the shelf. That's OK sometimes. There is a certain romance behind falling in love with the idea of the game first and then finding out if there is really anything there worth your time.

Just my two cents on the matter. More importantly though is that I will put my two cents (or $60 as the case may be) on the table. One thing I am sure of is that if you steal most of your games you are just helping to doom us all to another safe bet like:

Call of the Battlefield: Near Future Black Ops Zombie Warfare 19

@DeViLzzz

Not even sure why I am giving this comment the time of day but.... I have played almost every night since release. Still love it BTW. The ONLY times I have had camera trouble is just a couple of times on say a jumping puzzle where I am completely backed against a wall and want to zoom in tight over my shoulder I get forced where I cannot see myself. Which is something I have seen about a thousand times in a thousand games in the last 20 Yrs. of gaming. So, in short the camera is fine if you use it right. It's about as good as you see in any game. But haters gonna hate I guess.
