Crisis Core is THE ESSENTIAL psp game. Just like FF7 was for PS1 and OoT was for N64. You should definelty get that first.

After that pick up Monster Hunter 3g and or Final Fantasy Tactics WOTL.

As for remakes... Get Star Ocean Second Story, Breath of Fire 3 and Valkyrie Profile ;)

Reach Engine is just H3 modded. H3 was just H2 modded. H2 was just H1 modded. The series has hardly made an durastic changes over the years.
