@RYAN_121: You gotta look at the market values. Sometimes with the sales they come out to comparable prices as in store or (yes, it happens) even cheaper. You have to also account that this is a digital game so you don't have to drive to the store and pick it up and you don't have to get up and pop a disc into your Xbox if you wanna play another game, you can boot it up directly. There's a certain comfort factor to it as well, if you like that sort of thing.

I would say just compare all prices and see what works better for you.

@Bkserpentor:I haven't played the WWE games in years but this one actually seemed decent, especially due to its huge roster. That's something they finally got right, and this guy complained about it? I don't get it.. every other gaming site gave this a 7 or 8. This review is way off.

I played it for a couple hours and was like "alright.. cool.. let's see what's on Netflix now." Let's be realistic here, the beta felt hollow and shallow. There was something really off-putting about it. I don't think there was enough content to justify a full release (and I'm including the content we didn't have access to). Barely any blasters or maps, big open snow map with not much there, just blinding white and shooting dudes with your blaster over and over. The powerup system is extremely flawed. No real leveling up and upgrades to look forward to. No single player, just random modes like survival which is more or less designed for playing with friends regardless.

The gameplay was totally subpar. I was honestly looking forward to this game moreso before I played the beta. This just gave me a reason not to buy it.

@RAPTOR-J Like I told someone else, people got sick of this game 2 weeks after release. You're delusional if you think people are going to be playing this game in ten years.

@keithlemon You make a good point that I wanted to touch on too. Every now and then a forum goer will pop up and make this claim. "Bungie is going to support this game with DLC" they'll say. So what? Are we supposed to hold off judgements on the base game simply because of some promise of future content? I prefer to look at what we have now since Bungie wants my money now.

And speaking of that future content, how do we know it'll be any good or that it'll make the game any better? So far they've failed on multiple aspects. They haven't delivered the game they wanted to. All of a sudden a DLC update is going to do just that? I don't think so.

Take a look at GTA V. Every so often Rockstar will release free content such as vehicles, guns, accessories, etc to support their game. Is this content what makes the game great? Not at all. If GTA V weren't already built on a solid foundation, giving us extra guns and cars would not make up for the failures of the game. That's why I don't see how Destiny could possibly turn it around based on a few content updates. The core game just isn't there.

@Jrounder82 A 10 year story? Man, Bungie really are the greatest hype men aren't they.. you really bought into all that? People got sick of this game 2 weeks after it released. I don't think there's enough content in this world they can release to keep people playing it 10 years down the road.

The only Bungie games right now that get to say that are Halo 1 and 2 which are getting re-released and actually have people excited. I guarantee you that no one will be playing this in 10 years' time, and no one will want an "HD remake" of it either.

Review is pretty much spot on. Destiny looks very pretty, but the game is a chore and there's no story worth telling. I think what truly makes this game a 6/10 is that it had so much promise, so much hype. It was supposed to be a new way to play. It was supposed to be Bungie, Creator of Halo's, next grand adventure. Except it wasn't.

The adventure that lies in traveling to and exploring planets within our solar system? Not there. You click on a world and a loading screen takes you there. I don't get to traverse the solar system, and see the beauty of these planets under my own control. And when you get to these worlds, you realize they're just maps, most of them pretty repetitive landscapes. These planets don't even have the physics they should. I wanted so badly to bounce around on the moon like I was actually standing there. But for some reason Bungie felt the need to include the same physics on every different world despite gravity changes. To me this and aspects like this felt really lazy, like they overlooked something so simple. It made going to these places pointless because I might as well be on Earth. Why explore space? Bungie did not deliver the adventure they promised.

And the story is not even there. That confusion that you first go through when the game first starts.. when the Peter Dinklage-bot tells you you've been dead for a while and he brought you back and you're like "say whaaaat?" That confusion is there constantly in the game. At no point do they make an effort to tell you who you are or what the hell you're doing. There's just some half-assed explanation of how these bad guys are coming and you need to stop them. "Oooooh! Scary!" Except you don't really know why you should be phased by any of that.

The combat is also boring after a while. Waves of enemies spawning out of nowhere for you to riddle with bullets so you can grind to the next level. Meh. I had high hopes for this game, I really did. But when the thought of playing Bungie's older games in the Master Chief Collection (some of which have been out for 10+ years now) excites me more than their brand new "next-gen" adventure, then you know something's wrong. This was unfortunately a hard fail for them. Good news for Bungie is that the vast amount of hype this game generated probably earned them a whole lotta money. Let's hope they put it to good use on their next game and actually deliver.

@yboucher @wwervin @toffifee Yup. I believe GS also did a feedback video after the disaster that was the GTA V review when the woman caught flack with fans for docking points from the game's review merely because of her own personal feminist bias against the game. We're talking about a GTA game, purposely made to offend people, and they put a feminist on the review?

Something smells fishy to me. It's like they're doing this on purpose. I've been using GS for over 10 years now, much longer than most of the staff I'd say, and I don't recall them ever being this bad at reviews. This place has changed.

@toffifee @wwervin I'm not saying the game isn't bad. What I'm saying is it's not THAT bad. There's a level of "badness" if you will, and I think GS has been rating games really low lately. This game isn't all that magical or anything but from what I've seen there's still fun to be had with it. Why rate it so low when almost every other source has it a few points higher?

I think they're being rather unfair to some games just because they want to look like they're hardball reviewers. They're acting like high class snobs. Apparently very little is good enough for these people.
