@davillain-: Seems to me that if you want a army that is that big that has no conscience and just follows orders... living, breathing people is about the last thing you want. Especially in the presence of what seems to be true AI that can be installed in robots.

@JustPlainLucas: But then the simple answer presents itself... Just remove the code to require always online stuff. I mean, I am sure they could do it - MS did it with the Xbox One...

I mean, I get why they did it in terms of the movie - because armies of robots are less mediagenic than armies of clones. But in-universe it seems like an engineering problem that could be overcome rather easily. C3PO and R2D2 certainly don't need an always online connection to function. If they did then the empire could easily have destroyed the rebels since those two were always there and could have been turned to the empires uses easily.

I have never been into SW so I probably just missed this but something occurred to me :

Why in the world is a army of robots replaced with an army of clones? This doesn't seem to make any sense to me - the droids are obviously quite intelligent (To the point where they are full fledged characters in the franchise) so it's not like they can't improvise or think on their feet. And it seems to me that having an army that can be manufactured in bulk and upgraded by way of wifi to improve aiming and such on the spot is better than an army of clones that have to be grown and trained. Plus there is no chance of a army of droids suddenly turning on you since, well, they are robots that can be reliably controlled - unlike an army of clones that can suddenly develop opinions the contradict the orders given (As in episode 7).

So what was the argument given in the movies for that decision to be made?

@j_assassin: There are too many "Good" games out there. That is the problem... We have a lot of games that are "good" - squarely on the c+ or B- in the scale of interest. They are certainly a bit above average. But they aren't the B+ or A games that demand playthroughs... they are games that are good enough to hold ones attention for awhile but not good enough to cause one to play them without switching to the next "Good" game.

That is the problem - lots of "Good" games but not enough of the "Truly outstanding" games. I can think of distressingly few "great" games this generation. Assassins Creed Black Flag, Overwatch... after that I start to go to the smaller ones ("Valiant Hearts" was great, "Oni and the Blind Forest" was great and so on). You know, the games you start up and consume your play time until they are finished. This year, the only game I have seen that I'd qualify as "great" is the Zelda Breath of the Wild game. Granted the year is still young-ish but it's starting to feel like maybe we need something really new to hit...

@iandizion713: Last night I decided to poke around. I picked out four sellers that were offering Switch consoles at less than $300 and had 5 star ratings and sent them messages asking if that was real. Every single one of them responded by saying that their accounts were hacked and they very definitely were not offering Nintendo Switch consoles.

That is not a scientific study, obviously. The sample size is too small for one thing. But when I am getting a 100% rate of good sellers who have hacked accounts selling this, that indicates to me that there is a scandal brewing under the surface of Amazon...

I haven't seen this delved into anywhere in the news, so i figured I'd bring it to people's attention here : If you go on Amazon to buy a Switch right now, pay attention to who is selling it and make sure that the unit you buy is fulfilled by Amazon itself.

There seems to be a lot of people selling Nintendo Switch's on the site that are basically pure and unadulterated scams. I was just taken in by one yesterday - I found a person selling a new Switch for $350 and thought "That's not that bad of a price - okay, I'll bite". The seller had a 5 star rating and all good reviews. So I bit...

This morning I found out from the seller that her account had been hacked and that she was very definitely not selling a Switch. Amazon has refunded my money already, which is good. But that led me to look at more sellers of this product and quite a few of them have page upon page of buyers reporting them as scams. I am unsure if this is widespread beyond the Switch or if it is mainly in that product, but it is something to keep an eye on and it certainly is widespread in terms of Nintendo products.

This was a game I played to death on my laptop back in the mid-90's.

On one side was a toybox controlled by you. On the other was a toybox controlled by the computer. The idea was that the computer took it's wind up toys out and tried to get them to your side and you did the same, but in the opposite direction.

Each toy had to be wound up - the more you wound it up the longer it would try to move. There were different toys - one was a bulldozer type of thing that blocked enemy toys, one was a magician that would randomly teleport to a different spot and so on...

My god I loved that game and would love to find it again to run on a newer computer but I don't remember the name of it... Plus it was a Windows 98 game so I am not sure it would even work.

This just hit me... They are developing new maps and characters as well as seasonal events. That has to take some time and manpower... And they are doing it for free. How big is Blizzard, as a company, exactly?

@commander__zero: Oh wow.... I wish I had seen this earlier because I would have been there, at least as a spectator, to help make it a success. If they ever do that again, let me know!
