I loved the game Colonel's Bequest. It was made by Sierra in the late 80's and it was a mystery game. It was based a little in "real" time, and the scoring at the end was based on how much of the game you solved before morning. It was very challenging because you could die, and if you hadn't saved, you lost all that progress.
