@xikaryo: They ran it on roughly the same hardware as Switch 2, as close as they could make it, though it's probably still better than Switch 2.

It seems like this thing really should be able to kind of match base Xbox One/PS4? Which if true is cool, and at least has Nvidia's two generations old RTX features...like in the lowest end possible configuration, but still. I guess it can do DLSS 2 in some capacity?

I'm sure Nintendo stuff targeting it will look great. I still think better looking NES and GB games look great lol

@xikaryo: Well, it's hopefully going to be able to kind of match a lat gen (base version) Xbox, like Switch is kind of an Xbox 360.

It's pretty damned impressive if it can REALLY pull off something like Death Stranding and even do it that well.

@om3n: Whoa, seriously?

I just noticed it doesn't support wireless on Xbox...

Doesn't seem worth it to me versus getting a first party controller.

I wonder if it even supports the more sophisticated "rumble" Xbox One first party controllers introduced.

@CyberEarth: Totally agree. If you want Playstation, go with 5 pro if you can

@xikaryo: Digital Foundry's found recent games that actually use the current gen systems like Alan Wake 2 are finally seeing a performance gap between Series and PS5.

Most of the games you mentioned are on ps4, great on both. Redfall being "the worst game of 2023" is obviously silly and irrelevant.

@ceelogreen94: You're making assumptions about me, but regardless in the past decade I've been super impressed by Sony first party. I really wasn't like on PS2 though.

@hardwenzen: Resolution alone is still nice on 4 Pro, and sometimes there's other tweaks.

It sounds like 5 pro will have hardware for upscaling like Intel Arc and Nvidia RSX, though I'm skeptical it can compare to RSX given Nvidia working on the software and hardware since years before Xbox One released, but still. Xbox Series actually has AI hardware too though it hasn't been used yet as far as I know.

@girlusocrazy: Interesting! Thank you! I do wish it just supported regular drives.

Frankly it seems like both systems would be okay allowing games to run off USB 3 SSDs

As I’m reading this I think the actual issue is that for some reason we allow c suite people to own stock in the company/Primarily get money from stock.

This is a ridiculous reason to fire people, and yet it’s the kind of nonsense we’re seeing constantly because the actual goal is just increase the stock price, which should be irrelevant

@mooglestar: I don’t know that it is. And we don’t know what this is.

I sort of feel like it might be a Windows equivalent of steam deck which could be incredible.

Otherwise maybe it’s effectively a series S or something. If it runs all windows games or all Xbox games it could be really cool, and Immediately make it more appealing than PS5 or switch 2 For a lot of people
