@ghosts4ever: sorry, if I wanted 30 FPS medium settings at 4K I'd buy a console.

AMD needs to competently build an enthusiast GPU and support it well for several years before I ever go back. The 7970 was ages ago.

@jg4xchamp: completely disagree.

And there aren't any console shooters that I'd say are adding realism to detriment. If anything, they've become increasingly arcade (Battlefield, Call of Duty) to appear to a broader audience.

I was talking about multiplayer. "Focus on story and immersion" isn't something I'm concerned about because I never play the campaign in modern shooters. Doom and Halo being exceptions.

@jg4xchamp: It's ironic because the best console shooters are those that aren't bogged down by aggressive skill crushing aim assist.

It's not about the input method, it's about gameplay. The FPS genre's popularity is its undoing, the games are designed to cater to casual knobs who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn without primitive AI keeping them on target.

All console shooters feel largely the same, with only a few exceptions.

@flashn00b: No console is running anything 8K lol unless it's like a direct port from the 360/PS3.

I've done my fair share of experimental upscaling and 8k just crushes even the best GPUs. Frametimes are abysmal even on my SLI 1080 Ti's.

The most impressive aspect of Halo is the AI and combat dynamics, not the level design.

The the only one with really exceptional level design was Halo 3.

Don't even care for corridor shooters. As for Horizon, apparently adding a lot of bloom and motion blur with rampant aliasing and ansiotropic filtering keeps the cows happy.

Console Wars have been incredibly dull recently. The "Exclusives" are really just a retreaded formula with a different visual filter.

Am I the only non-cow who thinks the design has potential? If the frame were a brushed aluminium (or, fake anyway it's a console lol) and they got rid of the silly blue highlights this would be wonderfully artistic.

Good concept, just not well executed.

@gifford38: First I'm a PC guy.

Second 9-10 vs 12 TFLOPs isn't anything to sneeze at.

Third, 30 vs 60 is the paradigm but many "30 FPS" systems fall at around 45FPS. Consistency matters.

Is the PS5 even capable of doing 4K/60 in future titles? Without asset scaling, probably not.
