I find the way Respawn studios is handling the Titanfall beta, and actually Titanfall in general, is like the way Activision and Kotick handle Call of Duty.

I also remember when Zampella got "illegally fired" and started claiming Activision and Infinity Ward are tyrants. Zampella was framed as a good guy. It now seems to me that he is very arrogant. Titanfall is a brand new unproven IP that essentially rips a bunch of stuff off from COD.

People are genuinely interested in taking Titanfall for a beta test. Respawn should be different than Activision and let people see how good the game actually is. If people had tried ghosts beforehand, it would have failed.

Moreover, I also find the similarities between Titanfall and COD continue into the exclusivity of Titanfall. I believe that the first Call of Duty was originally Xbox and PC exclusives as well.

Any rational developer of a new IP should want cross platform distribution. Respawn thinks so highly of themelves for being Infinity Ward alumni that they can be CoD killers through only the Xbox and PC. Call of Duty's explosion in popularity came with the cross platform distribution of CoD: Modern Warfare.

And although CoD, CoD 2, and CoD 3 were cross platform eventually, I specifically remember CoD 3 being the flagship launch title of the 360.

I bought ps3 for single player games

Uncharted, Killzone,heavy rain, god of war, last of us, tomb raider

Xbox for online games

I honestly can't think of any xbox exclusives that I enjoyed the single player a lot. I loved perfect dark out of how bad it was, and played gears to death, but other than that...

I was talking more in terms of technological advance.

PS2 to PS3 featured

- Brand new, way higher capacity storage format

-Sony's adoption of the hard drive concept (their abandonment of the hard drive for the ps2 makes the ps2 hard drive not worth bringing up)

- The XMB (however clunky it is), rather than a boot straight to game concept.

- The cell processor absoloutely trashed the PS2's capabilities..way more than the PS4-PS3 gap

- Six axis controller

- bluetooth wireless controllers, up to 4 connectable instead of 2

I guess what I am trying to say is that actual innovation was done, rather than just improvements.

This new generation is completely contrived. The 360 and PS3 were just coming into their own. The tiny differene between the new generation and the PS3 and 360 prove this.

Also, Gamespot came into its own during this generation. This new site format and all these great video features really make Gamespot worth the visit.

If not for this new generation I would have felt completely fine playing new games on the PS3 and 360.
