I think that it is awesome just because they will have it on 3DS and even though most people don't have 3DS's, the 3D on it is too legit (2 quit LOLZ)!!! But I like that they said they are thinking about having counter types for each starter so the fire starter would be both Fire and Dark, then the water starter would be both water and psychic and then the grass starter would be grass and fighting or whichever way they are going to do it because they can mix it up. I also think the Y legendary looks sick but I don't like the look of the X legendary because it just looks like a deer with over-sized antlers :/ But anyway the game looks legit and looks like it will be more fun than any other Pokemon game so far. No you do not have to buy Black & White 1. Black & White 2 have the same type of enemy, Team Plasma, but the plot is totally different and the games do not follow the same story. So get Black & White 2 because you will love it!!!, and btw...
