The game's fun when you have stuff to do, but it definitely needs more content. It was a strange decision to start from scratch instead of just adding onto Destiny 1. I feel like the first game finally got to a good place in terms of the amount of PVP maps, strike maps, Raids, side things to do/farm for, etc. Then as soon as it got to that good place, they released a sequel that was back to where Destiny 1 was at its launch. So now we're once again just waiting for more DLC to get released until it's finally a full game. I mean, I like some of the changes (this winter event reminded me why I don't miss the resource farming from the first game AT ALL), but I have no idea why they once again launched a Destiny game with only a few strikes, no horde mode gametypes, no hidden collectibles that unlock weapons or gear, etc. -> none of the stuff they learned to add to Destiny 1 that finally made it a good game.

It just seems like they could have done what Warframe and Payday 2 have done: keep adding to the game you already had.

This makes me sad. I hope the Steam Workshop support is strong and that it gives enough map variety for a good comp-stomp experience. Otherwise, this game has completely abandoned the single player/ co-op people in favor of trying to appeal to PVP people. This has been an annoying trend lately in multiple genres. Everyone I know wanted a DOWII-style co-op campaign with a DOW1-style multiplayer. Can't help being disappointed.

So far, I'm enjoying it. It's not as good as ME2. In my opinion, that game is tough to beat. The problem is that the support characters aren't as interesting and lovable as the old crew was. This game does do a few things better, though. The smooth movement into and out of cover is a small but noticeable improvement (no more getting stuck on cover that you can't back away from when you're getting rushed). The upgrade menus are a bit less intuitive, but they do give you a wide variety of options, so that's nice. I don't like that ammo powers are no longer a thing, but are instead temporary consumables. I always preferred to play these games as 3rd person shooters, but now you're pretty much forced to take some bionic or tech powers that damage shields and/or armor. Still, unless the rest of the game becomes a bigger let-down, I'll almost certainly enjoy it more than I enjoyed ME3. The world is gorgeous, the combat is different but fun, and the characters are fine (just not amazing like they were in the old crew - I'd say partially due to lesser voice acting, but also due to less interesting character backgrounds/stories as well as a less interesting group dynamic). So far, I'd give it a 7.5.

I really only have one question: Can I craft my old friend named Cain?

@cboye18: To each their own. In my opinion, DOW games are more fun than anything Blizzard has ever produced.

@olddadgamer: I think the worst AAA micro-transactions are the supply drops in the most recent COD games. I'm okay with it if they just dropped cosmetics, but when they added weapons to the drops, it messed with the game's balance as well as forced players to spend an undetermined amount of money to just gamble and hope for the best. I think that decision was a slap to the face of many COD fans. If you are going to release more weapons as DLC, it should be a set price to be able to receive them. Making them 5 bucks for a lucky person and hundreds for an unlucky one is simply unreasonable. At the very least, increase the weapon drop chance and make the supply drops easier to farm for in-game.

If I can play this over LAN with a friend, I'll probably buy it. If I am forced to play this over the internet, but can make a private match to play with just my friend, I'll likely still buy it. If I'm forced to play with randoms who will inevitably screw up the stealth sections and frustrate my friend and I to no end, I'll pass. It's the main reason Payday 2 started to suck once they patched the game to make the stealth missions more profitable and the run-and-gun missions so much more difficult -> randoms are fine if you're just shooting stuff. If you need to plan and be patient, randoms are miserable to play with.

@dellers: Fallout New Vegas turned out well, so maybe they'll let a different studio do an Elder Scrolls game while we wait for Bethesda to make one?

@computernoises: I realize that he was given an XONE copy. But if you look up just "7 Days to Die" on Gamespot, the game as a whole is listed as 2/10. They really should rework the ratings system on this site so you can tell if a rating is only assigned to one version of a game, or if it's assigned to all versions of the game (some of the written reviews compare the multiple versions and apply that information to their overall rating. This one didn't, I'm assuming.)
