PS2. It had some decent games on it, don't get me wrong, but the build quality of that system was atrocious. Went through about 7 PS2's before before settling up on the final one I have, and even that started having issue at one point....

The original Gameboy is a close 2nd. Not having backlight was torture, but made for some interesting ways to sneak some playtime in the dark when I was suppose to be sleeping on a school night...

You know, if those Tiger games count, I'd pick those as the grand champions of terrible game systems lmao...

Back in the day, it was Ocarina of Time, then it was Mario Kart DS, followed by Super Smash Bros: Brawl. Nowadays, it's whatever I'm currently playing through, which would be Tears of the Kingdom. I stopped playing it awhile back due to picking up RE4Make since people kept posting spoilers left and right, but decided to pick up TotK again to finish it...

Ah, the PS2. Such a poorly built system. In my lifetime, we must've gone through 5-7 of them because they kept breaking down. Most common issue was DRE problems where the system stop reading disc, while 2 of them sometime wouldn't want to power on at all. But it played DVD's when other DVD players cost an arm and a leg, so we kept buying....

On more than one occasion, I've been on the receiving in of a few protest where I got the pleasure of standing outside of an establishment as a security detail and have people yell in my face with personal attacks like they know me personally. Thankfully, I wasn't there alone as there were law enforcement involved as well. It's a place where refugee kids go that either are abandoned by their parents while fleeing or they're runaways. People are under the impression that they are being held in cages or being mistreated, so there's a group that's out protesting the whole organization. I can honestly say that I didn't enjoy a single moment of it....

There's room for improvement, but I don't have any issues with Zelda's current combat system myself. I think my only issue is enemies not being more adaptive and versatile with how they engage Link, something that Skyward Sword kinda fixes, but that's about it. Twilight Princess has the second best system since you're given the opportunity to develop Links sword skills through training.

Zelda's combat system has definitely developed since 1998, so I'm not sure why we're pretending that it hasn't....

Bad body odor is number 1. If we're talking physical, complete body mutilation is a complete turn off. I'm talking piercings and tattoo's all over the body, especially the face. I don't mind a little bit of ink or bling, but if it just dominates the the body, that would definitely turn me off...

I have a couple gaming apparel shirts. N7 and a black Triforce t-shirt. But that's about it. I wouldn't mind getting more, but I'm not hardcore enough to commit all the way...

Site never recovered after Jeff got fired and the exodus began.

This site being dead is well earned by the penny pinchers who chose a buck over loyalty and the fanbase. Quite frankly, I'm not even sure how they keep the doors here open.

When it finally dies, it will be remembered...but not missed.

There were actually two other events that destroyed the site. Don't forget the April Fools massacre day where many long time users called it quits and when GS decided to revamp their entire website, only it had enough bugs to make even Big Rigs or Cyberpunk 2077 at launch look functional. I feel that was the final nail in the coffin...

I was already gone by then. Only started stopping by again very recently, and even then only a few times a month.

I'd like to hear more about that happening.

And I must say, if there's anything sadder than once good websites dying, it's seeing their animated corpses being controlled and overrun by right-wing chuds who -- knowing they can't post their trash on any still self-respecting website -- find themselves in places like this where the moderation is no longer allowed to treat them as they should be treated. The things the fly here would have been unheard of in 2004 -2006 when I was enjoying running our little corner of the community with the GUFU team. Now the caliber of contributor I see regularly only serves to remind me how far the site has fallen. (present company excluded)

I honestly don't remember a whole lot about when everything took place, but the April Fools massacre happened back around 2010 if I'm not mistaken where the mods and staff members here created a huge hoax by "banning" one of the moderators here, @spazzx625. That shit escalated into a huge vacuum of users and moderators getting banned once the "reasons" behind Spazz getting "banned" was leaked. Even after Gamespot announced it was all a joke and went out of their way to reverse the banning of certain users (Some didn't get unbanned as they unfortunately went too far in their rage), many long time users never returned. But hey, at least many of us got a nifty trophy/badge for the whole debacle:

"You've been spazzed!! You participated in an epic 2010 April Fools joke hosted in GameSpot's Off-Topic forum, involving two moderators spazzx625 & solidruss, whether you thought this prank rocked, or you thought it sucked rocks, you were still involved in the prank of the century! April Fools!"

As for the site redesign, I believe that happened around 2013, at least the first major overhaul. When they first implemented it, Gamespot was practically nonfunctional for roughly 3 months, showing that they never bothered testing it before making it live. Eventually, only the homepage managed to be somewhat functional, but the rest of the forums was still a mess. So once again, gamespot shot itself in the foot. I think the redesign was meant to make the site more mobile friendly. It was also around this time that they removed unions. So, by the time things started working and the site settled down, about half the community moved on, especially long time users...

I can't believe that, in my age, I still get scared by video games. Here's all the games that had me hesitating to explore the next areas:

Ocarina of Time (I was 10 when I first played it. The atmosphere, creepy noise, and music in certain sections definitely had me halting my progress and noping over to the fishing hole instead)

Jet Force Gemini (Particularly an abandoned space station level which name I can't remember. Absolute dark corridors with monster noise being heard throughout? Yeah, took me a moment to get through this.)

Evil Within (Hmmm... playing in complete darkness with the stereo on and jumpscares throughout? Yep, I played this on edge the entire time. The one chapter with Ruvik especially had me freezing up)

REmake 1 (I was around 14 years old when I first played this game.)

RE2Make (Yeah, having Mr. X stalking you with other monsters wondering around made me afraid to leave safe rooms a great deal of the time. And again, playing it in stereo with graphical setting maxed out really set the mood)

Resident Evil 7 (I still haven't gotten passed the first section of the game lmao. Must've gotten 15 minutes in, turned it off, and never returned. I plan of taking it on soon though as I slowly get through my backlog)

SOMA (Another game I haven't finished, but did at least get far. Another very intense game heavy on the atmosphere.)

I'm positive there are 1 or 2 more but these are the ones that stick out in my mind....
