@heirren: missed that, however using something like a retrode 2 isnt a game copying device as it doesn't copy the rom.

So emulation is legal, albiet not worth the trouble to do it legally.

@thehig1:

Im not about to read a sony or nintendo or microsoft TOS on their games.

Why doesnt Sony release a "Nintendo Player" for the ps4, which would allow game rips to be played on their console?

Why would they ? and how it relevant, the law is the law and its currently not illegal to do what I've described several times, this is the case in the UK.

Below from Nintendos site

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

No mention of ripping your own game and playing it for personal use.

@heirren: nope its legal, back in 1999 Sony lost a court case to Bleem an Emulator, the verdict stating it falls under fair use.

@heirren: ripping your own roms from your physical games and playing them on an emulator is legal.

Sharing the ripped Rom on the internet is illegal for the sharer and uploader of the ROM

@ProtossRushX: octopath traveller is on steam

All those indies are multiplats.

Fun NES games ? The whole catalogue of NES,SNES,N64,gamecube and most of Wii can be emulated legally on PC.

All the remasters you listed are better on PC

The best of PC is missing a couple franchises, Football Manager(its on switch but only touch version which is basically the mobile version not full game ) Total War games, survival games like Ark and Rust, multiplayer games like Hell Let loose, and Insurgency Sandstorm.

So apart from a handful of very nintendo like exclusives that only Nintendo fabs care about the switch doesn't have anything to offer over PC.

It's not really competing with the consoles anyway Nintendo have give up there handheld market share to merge with console

@NoodleFighter: what's the point in banning any of them, as long as they are not being blatantly insulting and offensive the forum needs the activity.

Its a ghost town
