The WRC series on the PS2 was probably constituting the best rally racing games on this platform. These games were featuring superb graphics and very good gameplay (even greater with a Logitech steer), being rather simulation than arcade racing. However, so far there has been no news of any kind of development of this franchise on the next-gen consoles, namely the PS3.

Evolution studios has been recently purchased by Sony, after having built most of their fame upon the making of this series.Though, sadly enough, there is no promise that any WRC game would be made for the PS3. Evolution studios refers to the series as their "legacy", which isn't exactly a word with a meaning of "future" or "prospects".

Some "market aspects" aren't really encouraging the development of next-gen WRC either... because 1/ Genuine WRC racing requires to model at least one thousand miles of track, which is quite an investment 2/ Official WRC licenses are costly 3/ The number of various cars is much less than in other racing games, which isn't appealing new customers 4/ WRC fans are much fewer than, say, in Forumla 1 or other racing events. Thus, the balance between the "required investment for a genuine WRC game" and "the potential customers for a WRC game" doesn't seem to be favourable. For one thing, who many potential customers are there in northern America (while no WRC event takes place in US or Canada)?

Thus, I don't think the WRC series is meant to carry on with the PS3... though I'd love to be wrong :P
