I doubt Solo as a 'John Wayne' archetype. That character wouldn't have been illegally smuggling goods in a galactic black market either.

I see a lot of people having a hard time coming to grips with the fact they dropped $60 on a polished turd. But don't feel bad. I and many others fell for the brand name and marketing too. I'm starting a support group. We'll hug. We'll have coffee and pizza. And we'll play some Halo games that Bungie used to make, that we're really good!

@spacecadet25

@supernaught360 Look at the vehicles, alien and weapon variety in Halo games compared to Destiny. Bungie ought to be ashamed of themselves. Scorpion Tanks, Ghosts, Banshees, Warthogs, Mongoose, Wraith Tanks, Phantoms, Hornets, etc. (not to mention different vehicle loadouts on UNSC vehicles)...

... annnnnnd Destiny has two: Both variations of the Pike.

Look at all the crazy Dropships and Scarab assault transports you could battle in Halo games...

... annnnnnd Destiny has not a single comparable armored threat.

Look at all the alien varieties with different modes of attack to consider in Halo games: Elites (have 'leadership A.I.' that devolve grunts into scattering minions when you kill them), Brutes, Grunts, Hunters (only die with well-placed shots to exposed areas), Jackals (with energy shields you could take out with plasma shots, or well-placed ballistics into their weapon notch), the Flood, Prophets, the flying insectoid Drones...

... annnnnnd Destiny has simple shooting galleries of same-ey aliens.

I could go on and on, but it makes me sad to.

@pspearman @nl_skipper I was wondering this too. Especially after the competent space battles in Halo Reach. What happened to Bungie?

I hope Destiny, being a colossal disappointment that's also a huge financial success, finally wakes gamers up to what's going wrong with the hobby.

Destiny is just another product of corporate cynicism. They banked on gamers buying into the marketing hype - and they won. BIG time. I'd been doing pretty good the last few years not falling for it with other big releases, but they even got me too.

Of all the developers that have bent to corporate pressure in a never ending quest to attract casual gamers to our once niche' hobby on an effort to line their own pockets at the expense of innovative design, I never thought Bungie would release such an epically banal product to unwitting masses (except to those who played the beta).

While technically astute, this game is exemplary of baseline requirements for a FPS, and nothing more. - I would have given it a 5.0 as such.

This game makes 343's Halo 4 look positively brilliant in contrast - and in fact, that's what I'm going to be playing tonight.

@rickphoenixxx This is the same company that put rootkit's into CD's that would infect your OS (Google Sony BMG copy protection rootkit), and Sony Pictures Senior VP had this to say about it: "The industry will take whatever steps it needs to protect itself and protect its revenue streams... It will not lose that revenue stream, no matter what... Sony is going to take aggressive steps to stop this. We will develop technology that transcends the individual user. We will firewall Napster at source - we will block it at your cable company. We will block it at your phone company. We will block it at your ISP. We will firewall it at your PC... These strategies are being aggressively pursued because there is simply too much at stake."

Sounds like the bad guys in some of their video games, right?
