Ok the question. So I built my computer 4 years ago, its a silly little AMD sempron rig with a gig of ram and a 80 gig hard drive.

You can visualize this dinosaur. So today I'm browsing Alienware in dreamland and I look at the ram for the newest computers,

and I sort of fall off a chair when I see ppl are using 12, 24, mabye more gigs of the stuff. I remember like a year and a half ago when

3 gigs was approaching overkill. Mabye I'm wrong about that, I mean I'm concerned buying an upgrade of 2gb for my computer lol.

How is it possible ppl can take advantage of such massive amounts of RAM? Is it because of the massive improvements in multiple

core processors?

It it helpful having this much ram? Just some questions for some (hopefully) interesting discussion. Peace folks :p
