The worst that has happened to me was about 9 years ago when I was playing Final Fantasy Tactics for the first time. I put in something like 70+ hours into the game. On a Saturday when I was playing the game the power cut out in my apartment for about 5 minutes and when it came back I tried to reload my game from the last save and found out that my memory card was wiped clean. I was pissed beyond relief,
33 here. If I end up stopping playing video games it will be because they do not appeal to me anymore, not because I would be embarrased of being an older gamer or reaching a certain age and feel I have to quit because I'm too "old". As a matter of fact I think my grandchildren and great grandchildren will visit me in a senior citizens complex and I'll be as competetive as ever playing against them in video games.:P
Final Fantasy Tactics was not overrated in my opinion. For me that was the game that tought me to eat with one hand so I could still play the game and not starve to death. I learned to function at work on three to five hours of sleep per night because of this game. "One more battle and I can unlock the next summon spell" It was addictive in a way that no other game could ever be. ghaleon0721
Indeed, FFT will always be im my top 5 of games ever played and my favorite FF ever played. The graphics were OK but the sprites seemed fitting. The translation needed some work, but was not horrible. Other than those 2 things stated everything else was gold in that game.
Give it some time and you will see killer apps. This new generation of console gaming is the first since the days of NES and Sega Master System that I did not jump on during launch. I mean the XBOX, PS2, and Gamecube still have tons of great games that I am playing and enjoying. The prices of these new gen consoles and games are a deterrent for me as well as the lack of decent libraries also played into why I did not hop on the new gen wave.
I figure by around Christmas time this year or early next year things will get better (prices and gaming selection) and I will invest in at least one of the new gen consoles then.
I guess I'm a tweener. I go on side quests and try to do extra-curricular things within games, but there comes a point when I become impatient and then I just finish the game. Unless the game is a completely awesome experience and all the side things do not seem like a real chore.
