@Ayato_Kamina_1 @XbotDestroyer @staticdash22 I think people are misunderstanding me. I'm not advocating fo rthe kinect or Xbox One. I'm a PlayStation gamer but I just wanted to relay this from a business point of view. Peripheral gaming is always a gamble, one that MS is relying heavily on. Makes sense to me that so much R&D was put into the thing with numerous business partner/investors throwing their money into the xbox division, that they would want a return on their investment sooner rather than later. Maybe, once they break even on the kinect, then will we see a kinect-less SKU but I highly doubt it.

@XbotDestroyer @staticdash22 Well, that can't happen now. If they turn the policies back on, that opens them up to several lawsuits. The system hasn't come out yet, so the promise can change. But if the system releases without DRM, it can't just be turned on again unless the consumers know what they're getting.

What I think is going to happen is that Microsoft is going to release a new version of the Xbox One in 2016 or 2017. This will be a 100% digital console. So those that want the upgrade will change, and those that want to keep their retail disks will stay with the OG Xbox One. MS will then offer certain features ONLY on the new SKU to get people to switch over

I'm afraid Microsoft will not be able to offer a kinect-less SKU anytime in the foreseeable future. I think the decision to move forward with it, had a little nudging or pressure from the investors as well. It's bad enough that they had to confirm the X1's function without it, and I'm sure that upset quite a few of the investors too. Offering a kinect-less bundle would essentially be conceding defeat in the peripheral market and also is a sign that the kinect failed. Imagine if the sales sky rocket after the announcement of a new bundle? MS would not go forward with that tech.

Think about it. It could have potential relationship problems if they remove the thing. All that R&D that went into the system, for it to be rendered optional after they touted it as being a game changer? Could you see several investors dropping after they've supplied tons of money for the development of the Kinect? From a financial standpoint, MS is basically forcing the kinect to make a profit. By forcing the consumers to buy it, they get closer to breaking even. When you think about it, business wise, it's too late to go back now.

@UNCStriker88 @Kinguard73 Mark Cerny addressed potential latency. If you're gonna talk, at least do your research first.

@Kraken422 @GezForce @IAMTYLERDURDEN "Forgive but don't forget"

I live by that, and it applies to many facets of life. You gotta pay for your mistakes. Like the dude said above, they fucked up with their policies and now a lot of gamers can't trust them as a company. The same can be said for any company. Sometimes it's not about they changed their policies. Life aint that simple.

They messed up and now they lost potential customers who'll buy the competitor's product. I'm in that boat too. MS can't really do anymore than they've already done, they've permanently lost me as a potential customer. I'm happy with what Sony's provided me so far, and I'm keeping a good eye to see if they can't keep up the momentum.

@krystyla Because its not an FPS. That alone makes me want to buy it. But anyway, I like that Knack is giving me vibes of crash bandicoot and the glory days of gaming. Back when the games would be classified as simple in today's terms but they offer way more enjoyment and more hours of play than many of today's games.

The whole game was a mess. The series was never the same after the first one. So business as usual, meaning EA killed another IP.

@y2guru This! That would be a logical option. Put an embargo on games to where they can't be sold used for a certain time period.
