If someone told me they weren't a gamer and were only going to play 10 games before they die, I would pick...

1. Pac-man

2. Tetris

3. Super Mario Bros.

4. Chrono Trigger

5. Sonic the Hedgehog

6. Zelda: Ocarina of Time

7. Final Fantasy X (or VII)

8. Shadow of the Colossus

9. Shenmue

10. Halo

Whew, that was hard. I picked these because each game is representative of its genre or considered the best of its genre for the time. Each game was also considered revolutionary or was super popular when they came out. I don't know enough about sports and racing games to include one, but I don't know if I would get rid of any of these in favor of a sports game anyway.

@WreckEm711

I totally understand what you mean. If I had just these games for the rest of the generation (with the notable exception of Zelda: Skyward Sword when it comes out), I could stay pretty happy.

@BlueWord

Your situation sounds very similar to mine. I got an Xbox 360 a couple of years ago, and that was mostly so I could play FFXIII when it came out. (In fact, FFXIII, Rock Band 2, and a couple of downloaded games are my only X360 games.) Still, I think I still prefer 1st party Nintendo games over any others. I would have to say I've been satisfied with the Wii library, not because it has hundreds of good games, but because the good games it does have are REALLY high quality.

@SapSacPrime

That's a fair assessment - like you, I bought more GC games when it was out. For me, whether or not I want to buy the next console depends on how many games I've liked for the Wii and as well as how much I've liked them. For example, I'd be willing to by the next Nintendo console just for one more Zelda game because I love that series so much.

@KBFloYd

Yeah, some people like to moan about multiplats, but I only think everyone benefits when fun games like that are on every system :)

@Enid_Green

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm EXACTLY the same way.

@enrique_marrodz

Haha, it's always good to see hardcore Wii gamers. I also love unique gameplay experiences and I think uniqueness is not talked about enough when it comes to games. Sure, Nintendo makes remakes like everyone else, but they also put out a lot of good, unique stuff. Speaking of the GC, one of my favorite "new gameplay experiences" was Pikmin 1 and 2. I wish they'd make a Pikmin 3 :(

@meetroid8

Me too! I especially love Okami, which you seem to also like by your avatar and signature picture ;)

@MUSH_IS_PWNs

Interesting observation! I agree with the "secondary console" theory for people who have enough money to buy 2 consoles. Depending on what games you like, though, the Wii isn't a terrible primary console either, especially for less hardcore gamers (who likely wouldn't be posting on a gaming site anyway).

So, I realized today that I have 8 Wii games. This would be a decent amount for someone who just got a Wii in the last couple of years, but I actually got mine the day the Wii came out in America. Although there are plenty of other titles I would love to get if I had more money, for now I am perfectly content with the 8 games I have. I think a system doesn't need to put out 50 "great" games a year to be worth the purchasing price. When I think about it, Wii games have incredible value, and the 8 games I own have gotten me through 4 years of Wii gaming. I haven't once regretted getting a Wii since I got it, and I can't say the same for some other things that I buy.

What about you? Do you love your Wii games? Would you rather play 2-3 GREAT games a year than 10 mediocre ones? I'm not talking about the Wii versus any other console here (there's another forum for that); I'm focusing more on Nindendo's general marketing strategy and quality of 1st party games.

For those who are interested, here's what I have:

Mario Kart Wii

SSB Brawl

These games have amazing multiplayer gameplay and replayability. I do enjoy FPS hi-def gaming like many people, but these games offer quite a different kind of multiplayer experience.

Some other games:

Zelda: Twilight Princess

Okami

Super Mario Galaxy

Donkey Kong Country Returns

These four games (and SMG2) probably sum up all there is to love about action/adventure games and platforming on the Wii.

The last 2 games I have are:

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Animal Crossing: City Folk

While the above games won't be enjoyed by everyone, I personally find them to be really, really entertaining.

In general, I don't like to replay games, but that's mostly because my game time in any given week is very limited. I would feel guilty spending time on a game I had already beaten when I have plenty of unplayed games. I mostly play platformers and RPGs, and I'm definately more likely to replay platformers than RPGs if I get in the mood.

When I was a kid / teenager, though, I played most of my games over and over again.

I detest:

1. Almost all sports / racing games

2. Every 2D side-scrolling shooter (sorry, Contra and every classic arcade game)

3. Point and click adventures - I just can't bring myself to care

I rarely, rarely play:

1. First person shooters

2. Third person shooters

3. Straight-up puzzle games (Tetris)

4. Puzzle games with a small action/platformer element (Braid)

5. Survival horror games (either 2D or 3D)

And just for fun - my favorite genres:

1. RPGs

2. Turn-based strategy RPGs

3. 2D platformers

4. 3D platformers

5. Action/adventure games (Any Zelda game, ect.)

1. White. It may get dirty, but I think it looks classier.

3. I would get a screen protector. Using some other material may ruin the screen.

4. I always use the stylus. Then again...I'm really obsessed with keeping my games and systems in top shape.
