After playing it on and off over the last 2 years, Id have to agree.

Sometimes I question what it is, and what the devs are doing.

Its an awesome technical showcase, but there is an EXTREME lack of cohesion and direction for a game that has been in development for so long.

Its like they keep adding new features and planets for exploration, but it doesnt seem like they actually plan to release it any time soon.

They need to finish the game and release it, then work on adding features and stuff later, either in an expansion or DLC

I disagree..

The sooner we as a game community get away from the idea of box products the better we will be. Games like Star citizen have a community driven quality about them and rely heavily on interaction. Trying to drive a game with this much scope creep to complete just does not sound like the best idea. I would prefer that fix bugs at this point but release in phases. Most fun I had in this game was when me and my clan mates decided to raid the security outpost, and I was space walking with a sniper rifle pulling security on doors. Shooting someone while floating in the shadows of the space station is awesome. Just like sneaking on board someones ship and tossing a grenade in the cockpit.

Its dynamic predetermined then lol

Its dynamic given that you dont set a global variable and it maintains the same time during the race. GTS is just using precalulated data to light the scene based on the time of day you select.

Weather happening a predetermined times just means it is deterministic. It is still dynamic however because the engine must cycle time and draw based on the current time that is what makes it dynamic weather. DF is speaking down to a lower level user that thinks dynamic weather means weather happens at non deterministic times or based on rng.

@spitfire-six: What is in two weeks?

The realization that he bought into another activision scheme. Right now the game is fresh and new despite just being Destiny 1.5. Lets not forget some of the normal Destiny stuff you know, like making shaders consumable now, locking vanilla content behind paywalls so if you dont upgrade you lose the ability to play certain parts of the game.

As other posters have said, its about preference also, i dont like bloodborne, I would be bored with persona, unlike OP i dont assume everyone likes the same games and that these games are "must play". Despite having a PC, Ps4, and Wii U I spend most of my time gaming on Xbox shocker i know.

@pinkanimal: yeah, then they procceed to complain about how pc gamers need to update their hardware.

we live in a world where gtx 1060 and rx580 prices are lowering and pretty much anyone can update their pc with one of those and have the same if not more power than x1x would have, x1x doesnt have more than a downclocked rx 580, its clear it cant run 4k properly on new games, but still microsoft sells it as a 4k system.

consoles last generations: promising features they cant properly attain...

Where are these lower priced 580x's ? They have been near impossible to find for months and 1070's are about to go the same way. Miners are driving the prices of these gpu's

This has more to do with Destiny's engine architecture than it has to do with Xbox One X/ ps4 Pro. There is no reason the PVP in Destiny with 8 players should be CPU bound due to their weird client server structure it leads to them having to manage alot of things in the client. i fully believe if they did not have the cadence set by activision for their release windows they would be able to refactor some of their session management to make better use of servers.

https://www.kotaku.com.au/2017/05/bungie-explains-how-theyre-improving-destiny-2-servers/

For D2, "Physics Host Alice" is acting like central game simulation server which is different from the following diagram.

Above the dash line, dedicated server handles the game simulation.

So after reading their talk from GDC, about networking, and reading their talk about their creation of the tiger engine, it is clear that the combination of their component system, and p2p/ dedicated networking is root cause of the problem. Moving the physics hosting to the cloud will reduce the exploits for host migration it will not help gain some of their cpu back from all of the other back ground tasks running.

Interesting i was just thinking about this the other day, lets look at this from another point of view. Microsoft has Halo, Gears, Forza, MineCraft and Age of Empires as billion dollar franchises. What Billion dollar franchises do Sony own ?
