Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet

Switch - I'm playing through Scarlet. After some serious last minute contemplation, I decided to choose Scarlet. Even though I prefer Miraidon, the purple aesthetic and Ceruledge exclusive to Violet. In the back of my mind, I’ve always favoured Professor Sada and the storyline focusing heavily on the past intrigues me more than the future. That, and the leaked Paradox forms are really what came to be the deciding factor in me purchasing Scarlet. I've always chosen what version I buy purely from exclusive Pokémon anyway. I was also quick to realise that orange is my second favourite colour (Purple being my first.) Plus, I know for a fact that Koraidon will grow on me. Even though I initially pre-orded Violet at a discount for only $48 off of Amazon, I’m glad I chose to buy Scarlet in the end, as the Paradox Pokémon that're catchable in that game look awful in my opinion. All robots…really?! "That’s the supposed future for all Pokémon?" is what crossed my mind. It just didn’t sit well with me. I’ve purchased and preloaded the digital copy of Scarlet in preparation to play at exactly midnight on the day it's released. As for the physical cartridge, I'll likely pick it up on sale later down the line. Having played and beat the majority of the game in its entirety so far, I can safely say that I enjoyed my time with this title. Despite the numerous performances issues, e.g. inconsistent framerate, general glitches, poor quality textures etc. it's a "step in the right direction." As seemingly overused as that term is in reviews, it's this title in a nutshell. When jumping into the game initially, everything felt very unrefined. Almost like a cookie cutter approach was carried out compared to Legends Arceus and even Sword and Shield. I think once I was able to ride Koraidon, is when slowly but surely, it started to feel like a true Pokémon game. I think my two biggest gripes with this game is how hard it is to secure a spot in a Tera Raid and...most of the new Pokémon designs being uninspiring compared to previous generations. I was adamant to stay away from spoilers before release except for peaking at the starter evolution lines, which I was fortunately successful in doing. The Elite Four provided barely any challenge. Meowscarada particularly destroyed champion Geeta's team. I might add more of my thoughts later.
