@pyratrum: Here's a link to Bioware's Dragon Age FAQ from 2006: http://web.archive.org/web/20060209112210/http://www.bioware.com:80/games/dragon_age/faq/index.html

It was like that for years, if I remember correctly, with information coming and going.

To quote the FAQ:

1.05: Will Dragon Age have a multi-player component? (Back to Top)

Dragon Age will have a fully developed multi-player campaign that follows the same core story as the single-player campaign, but which is optimized for cooperative play. Some competitive play modes will also be available. More information on multiplayer will be made available later in the development cycle.

1.06: Will Dragon Age have a toolset for content creation? (Back to Top)

Dragon Age will have a brand-new toolset for end-user content creation and BioWare will be providing support to the mod community supporting the BioWare Community is very important to BioWare. More information on the specific features available in the Dragon Age toolset will be made available at a later date.

1.13: Will Dragon Age have a Game Master client? (Back to Top)

Dragon Age will have a Game Master client. More information on the specific features will be made available at a later date.

1.14: Who is publishing Dragon Age? (Back to Top)

Dragon Age has not yet been signed with any publisher. It is a brand new intellectual property created and owned by BioWare.

I can't see any date on that but I'm assuming it's from around a decade ago? Policy changes over time. To say that what is said in the OP is false due to what happened a decade ago is a pretty bad argument. Keeping in mind that the time period you quoted from didn't have the same problem with loot boxes and publishers weren't actively targeting "games as a service".

Lol ignorant lemmings REKT!

Not really, one is a re-release and the other is actual backwards compatibility. To call what Sony is offering on the PS4 "backwards compatibility" is a stretch to say the least.

I was referring more to the part that if BC were to be available for PS4 today it would be crap which is not true since they already make enhancements for old games so BC games could be also enhanced the same way.

How's that argument any better than saying it would be crap? The answer is that it's not.

If they were to offer free backwards compatibility, we cannot say if it would be done in a similar vein to the rereleases or that it wouldn't. Selling a game and offering an upscaled\upresed version of something you already own are two completely different things both financially and technically.

Well they have a way to do it so why assume they wouldn't do it?

You mean by hardcoding it into the game? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that's how they're doing it in the case of the rereleases. Are you seeing the problem with doing that with a disc based game?

@Ghost120x: Its not just forums, I'm talking youtube, twitter, facebook every social media on the planet. Mainstream gamers are DEFINITELY aware of industry wide unethical practice, there is just no way they aren't, the only people that cross my mind that don't know about it are those who are not that invested in gaming at all, and those individuals can't possibly be driving revenues. I'm positive that there are gamers in these forums that support developers like EA and Activision, I just really want to understand why they give those developers and publishers their hard earned cash.

They're a vocal minority. People who are content rarely make a big deal about things, therefore all you see are the people on either side of the spectrum.

The game is pretty good. The story and characters are enjoyable enough, however pale in comparison to other mediums. The soundtrack is probably one of the better things about it.

Other than the story, the game's puzzles are nothing to rave about and the time mechanics, whilst fitting in with the story could have been used for some more interesting puzzles.

@MirkoS77: @foxhound_foxProving sexual harassments and rape are borderline impossible (especially when a gigantic corporation is in play), and I don't think someone would lie about such a thing, it's already hard enough to come out and speak about it.

I don't think someone would lie about it either, but the way I see it, if he's going to come out and make such allegations he better have his guns loaded, because if he can't prove it, the repercussions are going to be dire and across the board for his professional career. That he feels more emboldened now doesn't help him in a court of law where only evidence is going to be considered, and perhaps if this individual were part of a group that were all targeting the same person I might feel otherwise, but from what I see this guy's just coming out because it's been a topic in the news and he needed to get it off his chest.

While I greatly feel for him if he is indeed a victim, if he's not intending to pursue legal action with this revelation I have to question his judgement. If he didn't do it after it happened, there is little sense to me for him to be doing it now. This is a serious accusation against one of the biggest and most respected developers in gaming, that's not peanuts, and if getting it off his chest wasn't possible in therapy so he felt the need to do it in this manner, I only wish him the best in court (if he goes that route) and hope he realizes the potential shit-storm he's brewing up.

You're looking at it as if he's only looking for personal gain. Most of the celebrities talking about this are trying to get a discussion started about people in power abusing said power for personal gratification. These discussions may help other people who can actually win in a court to speak up and potentially (though probably unlikely) deter people from abusing their power in such a way. It's not unlikely that he's simply trying to get the ball rolling in talking about sexual abuse in the gaming industry.

Oh someone else on the news is getting shit for sexually harassing people?

Now is my time to speak up!

Christ people are stupid.

I'd argue you're the one who's stupid if you don't understand why people voice these things in large groups.

FFS I'm referring to separate incidents. I dont think Harvey Weinstein worked at Naughty Dog.

Where did I imply you thought Weinstein worked at ND? This ex-employee is still part of a group of people speaking up about their experiences being sexually harassed by people in power, hence the comment. Do you need any more help understanding?
