Because wisps? It's a Sonic game, and they're doing the story "right" (IE: Light). Not sure there's much to spoil :PThat is the first time we saw footage of Amy. Wonder why she has Tails's translator thingy?
I really don't want to watch much more and spoil stuff for myself.

UndergroundGarritos noticed the air around him was getting much colder as he rushed towards where he thought the exit was. He passed a blue glow as he blasted by another T intersection - he heard the hedgehog's footsteps behind him as Sonic passed it as well.
Castle GroundBabylon and Neo had enough mana for a small trick or two, like the light, defensive gust of wind Neo had just used, but they still had some time to go before they would be lifting, blasting, and crushing en masse like they were earlier. They were able to reach the castle with the others without any hassle. It was a good thing Gentoo came over to help - the Mizulans had their hands full with Rana, and Tori nearly passed out from exhaustion trying to run over to the castle. They made it to the castle without any trouble from the enemies. Peter and Danial, though, had some trouble. The mob was still completely obsessed with taking Danial down, and they were capable of moving much faster than Peter could while dragging Danial along. Danial's eyes started to regain their color, which was a good sign that he was recovering, but the robians were all taking aim and charging black energy spheres again in preparation while assassins made their way to the front of the pack to prep for the killing blows. As they did, Peter felt a familiar sense of emptiness, and he knew just how to fill it. OOC: From the bind, Peter's got a 3rd power slot now. This gives him room to combine, bend, push, and block powers with a lot more freedom. In addition, combining, un-combining, reclaiming from controllers, and acquiring new powers are instant operations. Bending, pushing to controllers, and dropping powers all still have a cooldown period. Everyone else in the bind chain will be getting their new powers with each new post.
Ground With each stab, Danial noticed puncturing the skin got a little bit harder. His blades were dulling, and he was pretty sure the black liquid the enemies leaked in place of blood was at fault. Also, while his attacks were disabling assassins for a time, his peripheral vision caught those he had written off as 'corpses' starting to get back up. Lexine and Tori's rescue teleports exhausted them nearly to the point of passing out, and they only made it just to the outside of the pack on the teleport out. This left them, Babylon and Neo somewhat vulnerable, but at least not surrounded. The grenade explosion drew the attention of their foes away, giving almost enough time for the four of them to scramble back to their original hiding place, where the Mizulans and Rana were. The last bit of time they needed came from Danial activating his Notoriety powers, keeping the attention away from them. The explosion of the grenade came with an eruption of black liquid, splattering anyone nearby. Lexine had placed and timed it well, decimating the forces who were too distracted by Danial to realize they needed to run. Peter and Gentoo got covered in the bulk of the goo, which created a mild burning sensation on their skin and a more severe burning sensation in their eyes. Danial drawing the attention of the enemies away prevented this from making them vulnerable. Danial was a little farther from the source of the explosion, and his hood kept the liquid out of his eyes. He felt the mild burning on his skin, though, and the acidity of it explained why his blades were dulling. For all Danial's timing on activating his powers helped, however, he now had a problem. The entire cadre of robians that had been charging black energy blasts at Peter took aim at the hero assassin instead, and fired. All of Danial's senses shut down. His vision went dark, his hearing cut out, and his body went numb. It was a surreal experience, akin to floating in an endless void, but also an incredibly dangerous one - it's hard to control your limbs when you can't feel anything. Nobody else actually saw any projectiles fire. There was no time to dodge. From Peter's perspective, the balls of black energy simply disappeared at the same time Danial's eyes turned into jet-black voids. Though still glowing red from his power, Danial looked helpless, and now the entire enemy army was after him while completely oblivious to the existence of anyone else. ...and Lenny had quite a bit of walking to do before he'd be at the other side. OOC: Hopefully that's clear. Took me long enough to figure out what exactly would happen. I mean "decimate" in the original sense, by the way - destroying 1/10th of the original force.
Underground Sonic's foot touched the ground for less than a second before launching back at Garritos at incredible speeds, intending to catch the fox while still off balance from the first attack. While one corner of his eye noticed Sonic rushing back at him, the other corner of Garritos's eye caught a glimpse of fox tail at the other end of the hallway, just before one of the flames lighting the area went out.
Atop CastleChristy slid under Chan as he leapt over her low, sweeping attack. His trajectory was off, however, and he landed about a foot too far behind her to get the jump on her, giving her time to turn around and ready herself for the next exchange. So no damage anywhere, but Chan burned some fuel.
OOC: As always, don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Me spewing words all over the page with little editing to try and convey what's going on can't be making the scene any less chaotic.
Castle Grounds Everything Babylon did went exactly according to plan - anti-grav powers and wind powers tend to go well together, and both he and Neo were trained mages. A group of robians, launched full force at the castle by their combined efforts, exploded into a shower of thick, black liquid that rained down onto the battle. Those that survived the bone-shattering impact were leaking black blood from multiple places, indicating the two mages had done quite a bit of damage. They were quickly running into a problem, though. Having cast multiple spells in a short time, each with large area of effect impacting many enemies, their mana was running dry. The adrenaline pumping through his system had caused Babylon to miss the warning signs, and he realized they'd need time to recharge just a little too late as his next Drift failed. The two of them were completely surrounded with a few minutes to go before they would be recharged enough to cast spells on that level again. Meanwhile, the assassins on the battlefield started to back away from the mages and headed for Lexine and Danial, each bringing with them a robian to shield them from the incoming bullets. It was a distraction that almost worked, but one of the Mizulans alerted Danial to something behind him. He would turn around just in time to see an assassin in mid-air just a yard above him, less than a second away from plunging a blade into the back of his neck. Peter was enduring a sort of power-sensory overload as he started to join the fight. The robians, assassins, and dragons above were all giving off multiple power signals too him. With so many options all presented at once and with everyone moving around the battlefield so fast it was hard to get a clear reading on what any of these powers were, but they were there for the taking if he wanted them. The Mizulans stayed back with Rana - her expending energy to boost Peter's power meant they'd have to work harder at putting energy in to finish healing her.
UndergroundGarritos's bite missed, but only because Knuckles's punch missed, too. The counter punch landed, though, knocking the echidna back into a dark corner. Garritos was unable to drain any energy from him - draining from a non-magic user would require physical contact. The metal shielding took a more upward trajectory than anticipated thanks to Sonic's whirlwind generating efforts, crashing into the walls and ceiling without striking the hedgehog. Now that Garritos was exposed, Sonic took a flying kick at the fox's chest to try and knock him away from the core and into the darkness of the rest of the complex.
OOC: Combat! All of the combat!
Underground Base The pounding continued, ratcheting up both the annoyance and headache Garritos endured. A fist finally tore through the metal, stopping just short of Garritos's head. Knuckles pulled it back so Garritos could seem him grinning, as usual, before taking another swing - this time a step closer to try and ensure he hit. Meanwhile, another figure dashed in front of Garritos again... and again and again. The breeze created was starting to pick up, and Garritos was starting to spend a more energy keeping his shielding stable as the winds grew strong enough to try and tear it off of him. El-Len remained unseen. OOC @demo: So you know, since El-Len has crazy stealth powers she's giving me commands via PM so Garritos can't detect her due to player meta-knowledge. I know where she is, though, and I'll tell you whatever there is to know as Garittos senses it.
Atop Knothole CastleChan knocked Christy back, but not before she got a hand on his neck. The claw seared right through his metal frame with an intense heat, and she got it wrapped around the outermost wire before the metal bar to the chest sent her flying back to the opposite end of the roof. As a result, Chan lost hearing in his left ear. Not really a problem, but annoying. Christy, meanwhile, was very sore upon landing, and the rate at which the black liquid poured from her wounds increased.
Around Knothole CastleBabylon could not sustain more than ten or so adrift at a time, but that was more than enough to clear an aerial path for Peter and Lexine to escape through. They kept pace with Babylon's slow traveling energy wave, ducking past the foes as their were lifted and immobilized. As the next wave prepared to attack, the drift dropped the first group to the ground and picked up the new attackers up. In this way, the two tore across the miniature battle field, to the sound of clattering metal crashing to the ground behind them. The two of them cleanly vaulted over the wall Danial and co were hidden behind, where they met with Tori, the squad of Mizulan mages, and the Rana the mages were still actively working on healing. Danial grabbed the emerald with Peter and slammed it into Tori's chest no problem, causing light from the emerald to strike Danial and Rana and bring them back into fighting shape (not 100% by any means, but enough that they were no longer a liability that needed protecting on the battlefield). Babylon, meanwhile, was now charging towards a large group of enraged, disoriented, and demented foes, all eager to tear him apart for the injustice of getting Peter through them. Lexine's gunfire was providing a nice distraction, however, and was causing a few of the assassins to leak black fluid and subsequently take cover amongst the much more numerous robians. Though greatly outnumbered as he charged them, Babylon had a strong first strike chance here. Better not waste it.
Underground The metallic pounding continued as Garritos started to walk away. His new, secure accommodations made the echoes louder and more painful than ever before. It was a wonder his ears weren't bleeding. New dents kept on coming in his makeshift armor, merging with the old ones to create deeper, pointier intrusions that were coming close to his head. The blows were getting a little weaker, though, so Garritos wasn't sure which would give out first: The armor or his attacker's fist.
Knothole CastleRenovir's undead army charged forward. The citizens Christy had convinced quickly fled, while the ones Chan had convinced joined the militia in opening fire. These weren't shambling zombies, however, and within a minute, robians were knocking citizens to the ground, working to clear a path to Peter and the others. The assassins quickly pounced on the dazed citizens, pinning them down for good with a blade to the neck. Newton and Jasmine grabbed Adam and Ira and dashed into the castle, Jasmine claiming she knew a route underground. Danial his company showed up shortly thereafter, just in time for the master assassin to watch his former trainees and colleagues start murdering on the side of Renovir. This put them on the opposite side of the battlefield from those they were supposed to meet, though, which was a slight problem with all the enemy robians and assassins in the way.
Castle RooftopChan's bullet passed straight through Renovir. Her chest bent around it, forming a hole for the bullet to travel through before closing back up. "Really, you can't-" The window bar interrupted her train of thought by striking her in the back of the head. It flew into Chan's hands just in time for him to turn and see Christy take a flying kick at his head. Seeing his attack, her defensive reflexes kicked in, and she turned her face kick into a disarm with a quick flick of the leg. His robotic limbs were far better at holding on than the organic ones she had been expecting. This left Christy standing a few inches in front on Chan with a pissed goddess standing a few feet behind him. "Kill him," Renovir ordered. "Toy with him if you like, but I want his soul destroyed. He's too chaotic to exist in a world of balance." She hopped off the side of the building and disappeared, leaving Chan and Christy to fight to the death... or redeath...
With neither Babylon or Peter stepping up (and the GM wanting to move this along) Newton and Jasmine tried to make a slightly more convincing argument on Adam and Ira's behalf. "Allow us to start from the beginning," Jasmine said. "The demon Renovir comes once every-" "Assassins." "...what?" "Assassins," Newton continued, pushing her aside. "You want the short answer? The assassins planned all of this. The spires were here to protect us from this demon thing, and the assassins and Padrians worked together to shut down the spires. They summoned their god, and we brought powerful mages to fight." One civilian pointed at Lexine. "Isn't she a-" "A double agent. Nice catch. We had two of them. Now shut up and aim the guns over there." Newton pointed past the crowd, where the army of robians and their captive assassins who had all been obliterated by the massive spire strike earlier were appearing out of the ground. The bore Renovir's distinctive black/white color split, and didn't look friendly. Jasmine grabbed Newton and whispered in his ear, "What was that?!" "A good lie, and a convenient distraction. Honesty is overrated." Adam cracked his knuckles and rolled his neck. "A warm up fight? Excellent." "You are not that powerful," Ira countered. "Let the others handle this. Save your energy for when she makes her real move." "...stop being right."
Atop the castle, Chan's weapon hit its mark. He was not an expertly trained marksman, so his bullet going right into the heart of a moving Christy was either lucky or... "Fate." Renovir pulled Chan to his feet and dusted him off, as she had done his brother earlier. "You're both cute, you know that? Here, now that she's dead she's a lot more useful to me. Let's make this a fair fight." She turned Chan around to face a now standing Christy, split black/white just like all of Renovir's other minions. She seemed to have lost the ability to speak, but she still had her smile. "They don't all make it through the soul-sharing process totally sane, but they can certainly hold their own against a robot with a gun. She should keep you entertained until the other me up there finished round two. Have fun!"
