It really is not clear who would be each of the candidates for the presidential race in 2024. Curious as to what everyone thinks. To me it's fascinating given the state of each party and potential candidates.
This is supposed to be a fun discussion, regardless of your political affiliations.
1. State each top hopefuls for the primary (could be one, could be five).
2. Who you think is the candidate for each party for the presidential race in 2024.
Me:
Dems
Gavin Newsom. He hasn't done a great job in California, but he looks and acts the part, is not wildly progressive.
AOC. It really is a matter of time before she runs. Overly progressive but good at social media.
Andrew Yang. He's a math guy.
Kamala Harris. Though I can't imagine she makes any headway with her polls being so low (but hey, who trusts polls?)
Amy Klobuchar. Not remarkable, but likely doesn't alienate much of the base either way.
DEM Candidate: Gavin Newsom. Because. Honestly, it's because the pool of candidates is limited, and some candidates are too divisive within their own party.
GOP
Ron DeSantis. But for Trump, there really could be no one else.
Ted Cruz. When not tanning in Cancun, he's always around.
Mike Pence. VPs typically try.
Donald Trump. He owns the party. If he wants it, he'd likely win the primary.
GOP Candidate: Donald Trump. It's still his party. However, DeSantis could beat him in a primary.
I think at some point, whether 2024 or 2028, you'll see a Newsom vs. DeSantis election.
