if anyone wants to help my move some of the interviews or game spotlights, I'd appreciate it... it's hard work :(

How are you saving articles? Manually, one by one? Ugh!

This is why I thought something like scrapy would be good to use.. then we could get ALL past articles, in all threads.. (I thought it would be fun some day to go back through the new acquisition threads and tally up numbers of games that everyone bought, - and maybe produce some stats around how much members spent on games.) I can't see this being possible if the method of saving is manual though.

Does anyone know of a tool that would help save all the threads in a semi-automated way?

My vote is for the new board as I don't trust gs. I believe there is a way to "scrape" all CCU data and save it from gs before it disappears. I think scrapy can be used for this, but I have never used it, so I don't know how yet.

KG bought everything else on the planet so I only bought one game... AND IT DIDN'T EVEN COME WITH A DISC!

Ducktales Remastered Collector's Edition: (PS3) - NEW - $20 - The game is just a download voucher, but you get a box fo the collection. Inside is a cardboard disc with a Scrooge McDuck pin on it.

pikadeth

Sweet! I am all for digital download games coming with a game box that you can put on your shelf.

FYI, Unions can be migrated to the new GS design.  An update has been added to the original post.

AUGUST 22 UPDATE:  ...

That said, what we CAN do is offer Union leaders an opportunity to have their Unions converted into standard, public forums on the new site. This would, of course, mean that they lose the ability to control who can post in their forums, but it would ensure that all existing forum threads would stick around, and their communities would continue to live on, albeit in a different format. We'll be finalizing some details on this and reaching out to Union leaders soon.

@KGKaiju: Whoa, that is quite the haul! Its like you listed an entire video game collection. How many games were added in this one post?

Congrats on picking up Lumines for the PSP for $1.49.. good deal. :)

[QUOTE="pikadeth"]This union is the only reason that I come to GameSpot any more. Everything else on this site is done better by other sites.waflerevolution

I agree with that.waflerevolution

Ditto.

How would we go about replicating the CCU somewhere else? At a minimum we would need webspace with membership/forum software..

if all we need is a forum, Proboards lets you make those for free...

Here is one I made some time ago for example

John, that looks promising. Can this be made to look and feel like the CCU? Does it support avatar icons? If this can be made to work, I would gladly jump ship from Gamespot and move there.

This past week I started and beat Tomb Raider (2013). The game was very well done.. It had everything I like in a single player campaign: exploration, exciting combat, a good save system, fun collectibles and optional tombs and challenges. The mood of the game was kind of a cross between Tomb Raider, the island in the game Peter Jackson's King Kong, and the game Lost.

My only complaints about the game are that it contained a missable achievement that would require an entire second playthrough to earn 5 points. Also, the multiplayer is weak, and there are too many multiplayer achievements.

This one is definitely worth a playthrough if you like adventure games.
