Agreed, they are rarely as good, but can still be extremely successful. Consider the film series of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and (may god have mercy on my soul for even mentioning this pile of ...) Twilight. As bad as they often are, they must sell OK otherwise they wouldn't bother making them.

Silent Hill was extremely poor too.

I wouldn't use TW for The Witcher. There have been far more Total War games and most people associate TW with that series.

Looks sweet, but I don't know if I can cope watching any more Gamespot videos with a 2-minute ad for South Park before I actually get to the video I want to watch.

I stand corrected on some of my facts. Most of IW left to form Respawn (38 devs out of 46), which isn't everyone, but is a huge chunk. However, they are still pretty much a new company. They have to look after their own finances and power structures that Activision ran before. Thinks can go wrong. Plus, they have to come up with a new IP. CoD4 was brilliant, but it was still an existing IP. Until they release a game outside of the Activision umbrella, they can't be comsidered a top 3rd-party developer is the same league as Rockstar or Blizzard.

Not everyone from Infinity Ward left to form Respawn. It was only West, Zampella and some of the senior developers. It takes far more than just senior developers to make a game. Therefore they are a new company and haven't yet released a game. That said, they are experienced devs, so I expect good things from them. Plus, many of the developers that DID make the MW games are still at IW developing NEW MW (and CoD) games, so your argument is invalid.

Respawn? Really Gamespot. A mob that hasn't released a game (not since being part of Infinity Ward) is arguably one of the top 5 developers? I call bull on that.

I didn't say it was dead, just that it's taken a lot of hits. There's not too many high-quality RTS left. I haven't played DoW, so I can't take anything away there. Plus Company of Heroes 2 is coming sometime soon, so it's not over yet.

I guess the death of ig Huge means the death of the Rise of Nations series too. Such a shame. That was a brilliant RTS back in its day. I was hoping for a sequel. With Age of Empires, Empire Earth and Rise of Nations all dead, the RTS genre is a sad one atm (bar Starcraft ofc).
