[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]

It looks like a lot of fun. I don't really care if it's "sophisticated" or not... I don't see how that has anything to do with the "dumbing" the game down since that argument has always been all about gameplay mechanics, not story. In fact most of the stories in video games are stupid anyway... "the terrorists got the nukes, we have to stop them!" *Epic music: dun dun da!* So deep! :roll:

Would anyone really like a serious Duke Nukem? I mean really... now that would be dumb.

At the end of the day, I like variety, and Duke offers something that's not very common in today's game, a sense of humor. Maybe that sense of humor isn't deep, but at least it doesn't take its self so damn seriously like EVERYTHING else.

Who has time for "sophistication" when you are blowing the heads of aliens and saving Earth's babes!?

I never said that Duke has to be serious. It just has to get out of the gutter a bit.

A lot of game stories are dumb but there's a lot that are smarter than people give them credit for. Its possible to make an intelligent game story.

Can't it be smart and "in the gutter" at the same time? Duke Nukem would lose a lot of his personality if he lightened things up... he's so over-the-top... that's part of the "joke" and its also what I like about the character.

Is it official that there will be no PC demo? If so, I see no reason why we shouldn't be upset. I mean, they make a demo for consoles, but not the PC... that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, and it makes me suspect that the game is poorly optimized or something... it doesn't show a lot of confidence in their product.

Even when I was a kid, I never called people "noobs". I guess the whole video games require "skillz" thing never got to me.

Whenever a pirate is caught, I'd nuke them. I bet there would be a few more pirates in the nuke's radius, and eventually all of them would be dead, along with everyone else!

I only liked it in Mass Effect and FEAR 2. It saved ME from a boring clinical look. It made it feel warm... In L4D it's terrible though, especially in dark areas.

Glad I'm not the only person who used in Mass Effect. Like you said, the clinical look was a little too much. Still, I think it's an option you should always be capable of turning off.

I couldn't get into it. The story just wasn't interesting enough, I found the main character to be kind of unlikable, and the combat was fairly dull. Also, there was a lot of walking. A lot. Maybe the game picks up soon after I quit (around hour 5) but I'm not willing to play through the opening again to find out.

I'd normally recommend that you stay away, but at $5 there's little risk. Enough people like the game; chances are you will too.

Yeah, there is a lot of walking and loading screens (which make the game a lot longer than it really has to be). If you don't have a ton of hours to put into a game, I would avoid it for now.

From what I've played of it, it's probably a lot easier with a controller. I'm definitely going to hook up my Xbox 360 controller the next time I play it.

That's too bad. I didn't like the show as much as others, but it was still better than a lot of other stuff on TV.
