I was slightly annoyed by the pricetag as well, but I think I'll be getting this on Friday. Most people who have played it seem to think it's a masterpiece and one of the all-time great platformers. Guess I'll find out for myself finally.
@og_gamerzzz: Nah. I have a good PC so there is no reason for me to get the PS4 or Xbox versions. I will probably get the Switch version though because portable Dark Souls is just too tempting to pass up.
Interesting. Of the five left, Mario, Zelda, Divinity, and Persona will definitely make it. What could the last be? I would be stoked if it was Mario + Rabbids or Steamworld Dig 2, but I doubt it will be either one. This is of course assuming the 8/10 score GS gave to Cuphead and Resident Evil 7 affects their chances in any way.
Zelda really deserved it, one of the all-time greats. Also happy Edith Finch won for best narrative and Hellblade for Impact, as they are extremely powerful works. I almost feel bad for Mario Odyssey, though. It's a masterpiece and would have easily won had it not been up against BOTW.
That's nearly twice as long as their E3 Direct. We've already seen quite a bit of gameplay from Odyssey, FE Warriors, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Nintendo already had their Indies showcase a few days ago. What could they possibly have to show or talk about for that long? There has to be a new reveal.
@Renunciation: Yep. Mario + Rabbids quickly went from a "lol wtf" to a must-have title, and this is coming from someone who absolutely detests the Rabbids characters.
@rglgathrawn: Yeah, I knew if I put Breath of the Wild and Fire Emblem Warriors on the list someone would have been like, "Um, no, BOTW is also on the Wii U and FE Warriors is also on the New 3DS!" so I didn't bother lol
I'm curious as to see what is next year since Kirby, Yoshi, and the mainline Fire Emblem is all I've heard of so far. I have absolutely no proof of this, but I just have a gut feeling that Nintendo will announce an Animal Crossing for next year. It has been quite a while since New Leaf came out, and a game like Animal Crossing would be perfect for the hybrid nature of the Switch. Smash Bros. as well, although since they haven't ported the Wii U one yet (which you think would have been one of the first titles to be ported over), they may actually be working on a new one for the Switch I think. And Capcom has to be working on a Monster Hunter for it unless they've gone completely insane--wouldn't put it past them--and maybe Atlus with the new Shin Megami Tensei?
Also agree with preferring to play indies on the Switch. I have put so many hours into Binding of Isaac and Shovel Knight already but ended up buying them again for the Switch anyway. I have been dying to play Stardew Valley and Thimbleweed Park (I've heard they are both amazing) but am holding off for the Switch versions, although I'm not sure if I can wait much longer :P
