I don't doubt Gamespot's integrity, but at the same time I don't condone what CNET did to Jeff. Therefore, I'll remain on the site, but I won't pay for it anymore.

I've purposely put TOB away until I beat Bioshock, so I don't get hooked on TF2. After that, I think I'll be pretty much playing it non-stop.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, when Nemesis crashed the Police Station as you were coming down a flight of stairs. nemes1s3000

There was another part where you walk down a long hallway into a large room. Right when you pick up the key, Nemesis busts through the wall. I totally expected that, but when you knock him out and leave the room, you start walking down the hallway, which now has a big Nemesis-sized hole in it. Right when you walk past the hole, he busts through the wall again, and you have nowhere to run. That scared the crap out of me. I was yelling "Oh God diediediediedie" while pumping him full of bullets.

Other than Starcraft, I could never get into any major RTS series, and I tried them all. C&C, Warcraft, Age of Empires, even Civilization. I think the only reason I liked Starcraft is because I played everyone in the dorms, so it was more about the atmosphere of yelling at people across the hall than it was about the actual game. Perhaps always winning helped, too. :)

I know that a lot of people have taken the knee-jerk reaction of blowing up about Aaron's Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction review, but I was very happy that I read it. To me, a 7.5 isn't absolutely damning, but it does mean that I should expect "more of the same," which may not be a good thing 5 games into a series. I was expecting that, but I wasn't expecting to hear that the story wasn't as good.

Though I was always sucked in by the stories and humor, I still do love the way Ratchet and Clank plays, and I would buy this game (discounted) if I had a PS3 regardless. A lot of R&C fans may be upset, but I'm not one of them; I think most games are being rated too high lately anyway.

This isn't just a problem with The Hotspot, but for some reason there's always a delay getting the podcast via iTunes. It usually shows up around Thursday. Is there a reason for this?

I had a similar experience with Gamestop when I got the PS2 at launch. They called up the people who pre-ordered a couple of weeks prior to launch and told us that they could earmark and hand us the systems right away if we could make it in ahead of time and buy it. I had to go to the mall the week before anyway, so I did that. I waltzed in and got my PS2 while others waited in line to pay. Saved me a lot of time. I guess successful planning depends on the individual store managers.

I saw a few features on 1up where they took older lesser-known "classic" games and looked at them through today's eyes to see if they still hold up. I thought that was pretty cool.

The major retailers set up some pretty dumb policies, but their sales people (poorly trained teenagers in many cases) are unfortunately put in a position to make decisions that most of the time they're not qualified to make. Case in point: I'm 29 and get carded every single time I try to buy an M rated game at Best Buy. And I mean every time. I don't even look that young for my age (I'd put me around 25). EB Games? Never bothered there. Target? Never bothered there.
