So my boss is selling a 1st gen ps3 (the ones that are backwards compatible with ps2 games) and I asked him how much he wanted for it, cause i've always wanted a 1st gen ps3. He told me not to bother because they're more prone to YLOD. Is this true?

Physorac

Yep-Most original "FAT" PS3s have or will get the dreaded YLOD mainly caused by break down of the thermal paste.

I bought a YLOD 60GB PS3 November 2011,sent it off to be repaired by a highly rated PS3 repairer, and all was well, for 6 weeks anyhow. Then while i was playing MW2,which i had only just bought,my PS3 suddenly shut down, then when i managed to power back up,shut down again in YLOD mode with my new disc stuck inside.

I contacted the repairers, who said they would collect and repair again, which they attempted, but alas, seems like my video card was now fried, cos it came back with no picture or sound. So sadly,I decided to sell it as spares.

You take a look on ebay any day of the week and you will see absolutely hundreds of broken "FAT" PS3s for sale-mainly with YLOD.

Now saving for a 320GB Slim, and can't wait to play all my PS3 games again including Skyrim and Uncharted 3-neither of which I managed to play before my PS3 Broke!

If you really are going to get rid of your 60Gb PS3 make sure you get a good price for it.A 60GB with B.C. is still much sought after by Playstation fans and are getting more and more rare to obtain.

I recently bought mine in YLOD state, but got it repaired relatively cheaply and know I could easily get at least 4 times what i bought it for,on places such as ebay.

Personally I think you should hold on to your 60GB,and I hope I never get a daft urge to sell mine, like I did with my original 60GB I had from launch.

Hi-I doubt that you will be able to eject the disc manually by opening up your PS3-I've got the very same problem with my 60GB at the mo-G.T.5 stuck inside, but I had the lid off my PS3 and the blu ray drive looks completely sealed with no way of ejecting the disc.

I'm sending mine off for repair and just asking for return of the disc.

Definately check your game disc surfaces, too many scratches and you will get the problems you are talking about. But if they're fine, then I'd take your 360 back to shop you bought it from.

WHats a Very good PREMIUM THEME for xbox live dashboard? Not the standard theme's im talking about the advanced themes. SO what do you guys think is a very good one?

RiKanKiDD

I think you will be wasting money on any premium themes cos at most times you only get to see the top half of your installed theme.

[QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"]

Premise: this is not a troll thread, I love my xbox and its controller, I'm just complaining about how poorly controllers are built

I got my xbox 360 at the start of 2009 and I was really happy with the controller that came with, for about a year and a half, when the sticks became so worn out it's really hard to press the stick down (i.e.: to sprint in shooters) and it's difficult to keep the character still, since the sticks jam to the side. Fair enough I said, I played the hell out my xbox in the first year (including a lot of CoD, which kills analog sticks), so I went out and bought a new xbox 360 slim controller (the black ones ones with the silver center button)... which was flawed: right out of the box the right direction on the d-pad didn't work properly. I took it back to the store and they replaced it with another one... wich was also flawed: fresh out of the box, the right analog stick slightly jams to the side, which is very annoying since your character often keeps turning right. The store said they couldn't replace it a second time, so long story short I had to keep it. I used it for a while, then I decided to pick up a special edition controller, the one with the transforming d-pad... which is ALSO flawed: fresh out of the box the left analog stick jams to the side, so your character keeps strafing right...

I'm so pissed. Why does microsoft produce such awfully built controllers? Why are my original xbox controllers (which were already used when I got them) still perfectly fine after 10 years? I sunk almost a hundred bucks buying these two flawed piece of crap xbox 360 controllers!

The only thing I can think of now is to open up both controllers, salvage the working analog stick from one of them and put in the other controller. And, no, I won't bother sending them to microsoft, I'm sure they'd dismiss it as a minor flaw and send them back unchanged.

Anyone had the same problem?

I've had 3 original 360s and now a Slim and never had a single controller break on me yet

[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]I'd avoid it personally. I've had 2 60GB's fail, neither lasted 18 months. Maybe your friend is lucky, I'd still shell out the extra $100 for a slim.cooperFTW
2 failed PS 3 :( Damn, this is going to be hard Was all excited about getting my First PS 3,until I googled YLOD

My Sons 60GB got the YLOD after roughly two and a half years,as did my Nephews. But i had my 60GB for 3 years and was still working fine when I sold it,cos I thought I'd get rid while still working cos of all the postings I was reading at the time of 60GBs YLOD-Take a look on EBay anytime and you will see plenty of broken 60GBs for sale. But I did buy a new 120Gb Slim.

no, and they shouldnt

psn is free, we're not loosing anything by not having it

Nickprovs

By not having it we're losing it.

Can't lose something that you can't physically grasp, it was never there in the first place!

Yea-But people who have paid for PSN+ are sure to want some sorta refund?
