Wouldn't locked consoles prevent game rentals?

Don't game rentals shops constitute a large portion of the purchases of a title, to stock in all their locations?

Seems a bit like shooting themselves in the foot.

So they just switched the joystick with the diagonal pad on the controllers that are already out, and moved the buttons to the left a bit?

If they're going to copy the rest of the design, why not just keep what players are already used to? It seems like they made the changes not because they're better, but for the sake of being different. I'd rather have a comfortable controller that's a copy than an uncomfortable one that looks a bit different.

Gamespot has been against changing the Mass Effect ending since the very beginning.

The thing is, so are many people who criticize the ending. Gamers don't want the ending changed, they simply want the ending to reflect the quality of the rest of the series. It was an extremely vague ending that left more questions than answers, and had confusing elements like characters miraculously transporting off planet, or lore-breaking situations like a mass relay not destroying a solar system as previously happened in the series lore.

Gamers are calling for clarification, and BioWare listening does not cheapen the series in the least. The current ending cheapens the series, but being a pathetic end to an epic trilogy.

"At the same time, you wonder if everyone doesn't also breathe a little easier without Molyneux on hand at media gatherings..."[

Haha, absolutely. The guy has a lot of passion about games, and that passion is translated when he talks about what he envisions, but the final products tend to be underwhelming after his descriptions of what it *could* be like.

He's a bit like a kid talking about the clubhouse he's going to make. It'll be great, with a balcony, a swimming pool, and a rocket ship in the back! Then the reality is a repurposed wood shed with a stump dragged over to stand on, an inflatable pool, and a toy rocket inside.

I picked GTA4 up for the 360 when it came out and really regretted not waiting for the PC version. I wound up getting the PC version later on through Steam for cheap, and even though I'd already played through it on the 360, I probably spent more time with the PC version than I did the 360.

This time around I'll wait for the PC version, even though I expect it will be a good 3-4 months (or more).

Sad to see so many developers out of work when they delivered a game that so many enjoyed. I personally wasn't a fan of KoA, but I remember Curt Schilling from back in the EQ1 days. He truly enjoys games, which is more than can be said about some heads of gaming companies these days. It's a shame the industry lost that passion.

Dragon's Dogma made me dust off my 360 to try out the demo, but it left me wishing it was on PC with the followers being other players, rather than other players' followers.

While at first glance it may sound like EA is doing something generous, they likely made this offer with the condition that they will continue to offer the game *after* those 90 days - and that they'll get a sales cut for doing so.

Not to mention that it brings all those people to their store (which gives them advertising), and helps to foster a relationship between EA and these studios. You can bet if the studios do well EA will try to turn that relationship into a buyout opportunity like they do with virtually any successful independent studio.

Call me crazy, but I wish that game graphics would settle and stop improving for a decade or so. That would force developers to focus on gameplay or making incredible stories and characters, rather than "Ooo sunflare". The industry is oversaturated with sequals and remakes. They just slap a new coat of paint on the same old gameplay then throw it out there for $60 + DLCs.

I think Activision is mistaken. Gamers want new original gameplay, not the same old thing rehashed with a fancier paint job.
