@Boddicker Sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. Just because a man is g.ay, doesn't mean they relate more with the opposite sex. They are still are still men. lol. You must be thinking of transgendered people.
I sometimes play as a female character because I don't play video games to live my own story, I play them to live the stories of others. The game industry is so over saturated with male characters that whenever I do get to play from female perspective its actually quite refreshing.
@soldierofAthens That wasn't technically homosexuality though as Asaris lack a true gender. Liara isn't truly a woman. That's how she "justified" it anyway if a confused female Commander Sheppard says something along the lines "aren't you a woman?" when Liara comes on to her.
Assassin's Creed is propaganda? Let me let you into a little secret: pretty much every medium is similar to propaganda. Woah!! Don't shoot me please! I'm not sure what the exact word for it, but every art work, every movie, every video game that tells some kind of story, tells it from a biased perspective, otherwise we would not be so emotionally invested in them... It's as simple as that. A good example is x-men. It's story paints magneto as a bad guy even though many of his actions are justifiable. It's not a fact that what he does is wrong, it is an opinion. The comic's + movie's present the biased opinion that his action's are wrong and the heroes are *generally* morally superior. There's no real good or evil, right or wrong, only perspectives. Stories give us biased perspectives to give them purpose. If we don't feel that magneto is villainous, we aren't going to root for his defeat and there would be no point in the story. We have to root for *someone*, whether it be the be the rebellious teenager or an overtly strict parent in a teen flick. If we don't agree with the protagonist, how can we be invested in his story?
It becomes a little more controversial when the story is based off history. When you make a story based off history, you still need to present a biased opinion. You are going to present two or more sides both justifiable in one way or another, but you are going to have to paint one of them as the good guy and one of them as the bad guy. Because we NEED a good guy to root for and a bad guy to boo at. The exact same thing is happening in Assassin's Creed. If the protagonist WASN'T the good guy... what motivation would we have? None. There would be no motivation to do any of the actions you can in the game. So... is it propaganda? No. Honest to God, I highly doubt Ubisoft has any sort of political agenda behind making this game. They just want to rake in all the money from the masses... they aren't trying to overthrow you ffs. lol
Also... it's not even BASED off history. It's completely fictional and INSPIRED by history.
