Nonlinearity can be cool when used right - with reason and purpose. What were the reason and the purpose in Beyond? Did it improve on the story? I really don't remember if there were any continuity errors but transitions between shots were often awkward. There was neither visual nor thematic connection between the story segments.
Games are generally not very good in those things and they don't need to be because... gameplay. But since Beyond is more like an interactive movie I tend to compare it to movies.
