This should be an easy one, I think... When I go to the site, the forums have a dark text on light background color scheme. But when I sign in, it becomes light text on a dark background. I very much prefer the black on white scheme, and would prefer to retain that when I log in. I can't seem to find anything in the options where I can choose the color scheme I use. I used to be a Gamespot Complete subscriber, but am not currently. Is it possible my color scheme got stuck? Can someone revert me to the default?

That's why I did it originally, too. And to quickly download some E3 Half-life 2 videos I was impatient to get. Now I keep it because, in all honesty, there's so many irritating people on the internet, that I'd rather limit my interactions to people who--even if they do not share my opinions--are at least able and willing to put some money where their mouth is. People tend not to act quite as idiotic when they're paying for something.

Wave Race Blue Storm already did the water physics. After playing it all weekend over Christmas break back during the GC's heyday, I even felt myself bobbing up and down when I went to bed, as if I'd been in the surf. It was surreal.

I would wager that the younger you are, the more female gamers you'll know. I'm ever so slightly over 30 (and btw Mistar 23-year old, you are like practically highschooler, so stfu about being old), and I can count the number of girls I know (or HAVE known) who game with...like...one finger? And even that girl...her claim is dubious. I've seen her play and she's not good at all. However, I see younger (I'd say in the 10-15 year old range) girls with DS's all the time out in public. My coworker's daughters both seem hooked up gameboys, as well. I lent one of them Mario Kart for the GBA, and she loved it, and tried to lend me Disney Princess Adventures or something like that in exchange, lol.. cute.. But despite there being some girls who game, I don't think it's remotely the same "world" as gaming for guys. Girl gamers tend to gravitate towards particular genres...and by that, I mean existing genres. I'm sure eventually there will be multiple girl-oriented genres that don't exist yet, and that guys will avoid like plague...but for the time being, all genres are pretty much male-friendly, and girls flock to only a few of them. And I still stand by my claim that all those announcements at E3 claiming that 52% of gamers are female...those include yahoo crossword puzzles (and similar online things like that). The same statistic might incriminatingly prove how much time women waste at work :P (not that I'm doing much better)

Well, I'm pretty picky about my electronics. My first DS lite had a problem too. I forget which. I think it might have been a button issue, oh i remember: the left button didn't always click. Unacceptable for Metroid pinball! I was wondering why I sometimes would just lose a ball after not flipping when I could SWEAR I flipped..

Anyway, brought it back got one that seemed fine, but one screen seemed brighter than the other. Not horrible, but distracting. So I went back to BestBuy and had them bring me another one, it had a dead pixel. So I had them take it back, and bring another one. This one had even worse uneven screen lighting. So I had them bring me ANOTHER one. And this one seemed perfect, but I wasn't confident I wouldn't find something later, and after seeing the second discolored one, I realized the one I thought was discolored was actually not that bad. So I said I'd keep that one, and buy this one that looked perfect. I intended to bring back one of them, but I never did. So now I have two DS lites that work fine (knock on wood).

But yeah, I had similar probs with a video card. From BFG. It broke on its own. Sent it in. They sent it back, but it still had lots of graphical glitches. So I sent it back again. Got it back, seems ok. I could swear my system is less stable now, though.

With electronics as complex as they are now, it's very possible to have a string of bad luck. I've learned to be more tolerant of imperfect things. My PSP has a dead pixel, and I'm fine with it. That button issue you had is crazy, I'd write a nasty letter of complaint to Nintendo. Getting 4 or 5 broken DS's... that should be escalated to a manager, you might get some free stuff.

If you're curious about getting a mac, just get a mac. Boot camp lets you do a dual-boot config to use Windows XP, and if you really wind up hating Mac OS X (unlikely) you can just ignore it, and only boot into XP. Pricewise, macs compare very favorably to major PC brands. I wouldn't get an iMac though. For $2000, I'd probably either get a MacBook Pro, or a Mac Pro. The iMac's really aren't much better than a MacBook pro, in terms of graphics adapters. They might even be a little better. And you can't upgrade the graphics adapter in either one. The Mac Pro's are normal desktops, so not only do they ship with better graphics cards, but you can also upgrade them later. For the money, the Mac Pro's are pretty well equipped. Quad core.
