Ps5 has better compression Marvels Avenger is 75GB on PS5 and 115 on Xbox, Control is right 25 GB on ps5 and 43gb on Xbox, Assassins Creed Valhalla is 41gb on Ps5 and 72gb on Xbox, at the end of the day those 200gb extra makes no difference

I wonder why the writer left out this very important detail....

@shellcase86: Im not sure, but that is why you havent had a problem, because both games, regardless of the PS5, are PS4 games.

This article is referencing transferring PS4 game save data to PS5 games. The PS5 often can have a PS4 version of a game and a PS5 version on it as well.

Ah, that makes sense now. Thanks. It was less clear in the article, for me.

@shellcase86: Let's break it down for you.

On Xbox systems all you need is a save file ANY where on Xbox servers in order to transfer to ANY Xbox to work with ANY version of the game.

On PlayStation is always a different experience, sometimes could be as easy as Sony just allowing the safe file to transfer from the servers such as Ghost of Tsushima, BUT in most cases it's required to redownload the older game all over again before Sony can allow you to transfer the save file regardless if that save file is currently on your PS4....which is a nightmare to redownload some games that are over 20gb consuming resources, and bandwidth, not to mention your data cap.

That does sound like a nightmare. That would only apply if you didn't have that version of the game downloaded already, right?

If I have saved game data on my PS4 for Game X, and I have the PS4 version (because there is no PS5 version) downloaded already on my PS5, would I still need to redownload?

This is getting wordy, so I understand the point, Sony's solution sucks compared to Xbox.

@shellcase86: I would bet you that the Fallout 4 on your PS5 is the PS4 version, not a PS5 version.

You would be correct. Is there a PS5 version? I could do w/ less loading.

I'm confused. My experience with this is limited, though. I'm playing Fallout 4 on both PS4 and PS5, I just upload and download the save data. No issues there.

In any event, if you're downloading save data that means you either already have the game downloaded or will be in the process of do it, no? I'm not disputing that Sony's method isn't the best, or ideal, but I'm not understanding the difficulty referenced in the article.

Maybe give a real-world practical example?

Learned something new. Didn't know Achievements weren't separated on based on expansions/DLC. That sucks.
