Correct. Do you remember Grey Wolves- Silent Hunter 3 or 4 (Ubi, I believe) where we played as the Germans during the Battle of the Atlantic? That board had at least 30 Diehard posters and we kept the converstation going for over a year. I like the feeling of GS; it is not as sterile as TW Forums and I do not understand why so many people have forsaken this venue.

A good choice of subject esp. for the newcomers to the game. My fav. strategy is to centre on one direction taking out the entire nation before making new enemies. In other words; do not, for any reason, spread your resources too thin. To buld a strong defensive network thereby allowing your standing armies to move on, I attack the built up, walled cities of the enemy when my stats allow. It is harder to take these centres but on the other hand, it is easier to defend and keep them. Plus I find that the game increases the garrison size and defensive artillary at a faster rate since more of the infrastructure is already in place and just has to be converted.

This game is hilarious- again. In a battle against one of the Norther tribes while Rome enjoyed a 10:1 advantage, for some reason I decided to zoom in on a packet of enemy soldiers and heard the following conversation pre-battle. First soldier- " Wonder where we will be tomorrow?" Second soldier- "Fck it; we will all be dead". The devs. must have had a ball making this game; at least in the scripting end of it.

I would suggest a little more time. I was in the same boat as you and ready to give up but trashing my first campaign and starting a second with all the info. I needed, I find this to be a good game which may get better with patchs. Also, I am playing vanilla but have heard that RADIUS has a complete mod on TW Centre. I am not recommending this as I have not added it but I know it was also available in Shogun-2. I did not use it as I went with Darth. The issue with blood may still come just as it did with Shogun-2 but for me it is non-essential. In truth, this game was hyped way beyond it's capabilities but it is non, IMO, a terrible game.

Nice of the guy to take the time to compose it. Probably helpful for those just starting out in the game. Tnx for sharing.

I'm really not sure just why you would want to split forces unless you are in a hurry to expand your empire. This game is based upon the tech trees and patience, at least the way I play it. It takes awhile after conquoring a region to build up a decent garrison force and once you have the Defensive Artillary tech mastered I have no problem in moving my army out and into the countryside to do more mayhem. I decided in this campaign to go North and take out all the tribes there with 6 armies; holding 3 back for protection and eventual expansion to the East. In one provincial capital subdued I had 12 garrison units plus 8 defensive artys with an invading force of a like number of warriors. The wall artillary combined with 6 velite units raised havoc wth the invaders and the city was saved with just a garrison complement.

I'm not sure it is a "power" thing since I am running a custom gaming rig about one year old which has nVidea 560 GTX, inTel i7, 950 at 3 GHz and 12GB RAM. . Even with these stats, the game warns me before a battle that video memory is low and has to downgrade some of the features. This I still do not understand but the battle was funny. I just had to sit behind my walls and wait for the 20 minute time limit to run out before I bid the Anartes a fond farewell.

We all know this game is seriously bent right now but I want to share a funny contest I had with the Anartes today. The armies were evenly matched and they wemt up against Brundisium with my forces consisting of 12 garrison troops and supported by 4 naval units. The Anartes all line up on the south-east coast line and then all but two units just STAND THERE for the full 20 minutes. One unit starts to do the Tenessee (sp?) two step in a circle finally having 62/80 mowed down whle the other unit attempts to scale an otherwise climbable hill (but just stays put). I close in on the Tenessee boys and hear their commander shouting " move your fat arse" and " did you come here to stare or to have a fight". Too bad CA didin't put more ingenuity into making a more stable game then putting their genius to work on the scripting. Anyone else have some story to relate?
