@pcps4xb:

Just so I don’t think you’re arguing for the sake of it…what is your argument?

“ A general statement saying the map is the same is clearly wrong.... you're wrong.”

Again, you’re trying to put words in my mouth.

Again, I said “The same map, with new areas”….or are you saying the original area (Manhattan) isn’t in the sequel? Don’t think anything I said was innacurate.

Sequels for me are rarely as good as the originals in answer to your question. Whatever attracts to the first game has generally been seen when the sequel doesn’t make sweeping changes. Give me a new IP any day. However, a sequel normally tries to change things up as much as possible - new worlds at the very minimum.

Maybe I’ll be proven wrong; it won’t be very, very similar to SM1, the original area isn’t included and the new areas aren’t tacked on, the premise of swinging around in an open world engaging samey criminals until a boss appears which involves QTE battles is completely new and the 17-20 hours it will take to complete the main quest will be longer than the 17-20 hours it took in Spidey 1 on a smaller map.

@pcps4xb: I said it’s the same map, with an added area. That’s not a contradiction, that’s Sony’s actual description of the game.

If it were just the new area, you’d be right and I’d be wrong. It’s not.

You’re coming to your own conclusions bud, not mine. Do point out where I said it didn’t justify a release…or stop trying to put words in my mouth.

What I actually said was if a game is released, then the same game is released again, with the same mechanics, with the same map but with a new area to explore with new enemies and storyline…then that is very similar to what used to be called DLC.

Destiny 2’s model springs to mind.

Sony fans know it will be very, very samey to the last two games…but it won’t put them off buying it.

@pcps4xb: Well yes. They are very samey…but I don’t think I know a series of FPS games that uses the same map…even if they are adding an area in SM2.

@pcps4xb: It’s not the same map with a new area?

You don’t swing from one area to the next and then press combos?

@bdrtfm: I’d probably call it hope. Fans hope the game will be great, but in the back of their heads they know it’s going to be very, very similar to the other 2 Spidey games. The same map, with the same mechanics, gameplay, with a new area and new villains used to be called DLC.
