@Bread_or_Decide: That's a pretty damn low score for Star Wars. A lower IMDB score than Episodes III through VII, Rogue One, both Clone Wars TV shows, and Rebels. In fact, it's closer to Episodes I & II's 6.5 and 6.6 than it is to any of those. Sitting in 6th place out of 8 (so far) in the saga, just above two movies widely agreed to be not very good.
I already explained that it under-performed, in a very measurable way. It had terrible legs. People didn't see it multiple times, or didn't see it at all after hearing bad things from those who did.
TLJ hurt Solo, it hurt Galaxy's Edge, and it's going to hurt Episode IX. You think Bob Iger is putting Star Wars movies on hiatus because everything is fine and dandy with the franchise and everyone loved The Last Jedi?
@Bread_or_Decide: Of course it made a lot of money, it's a numbered Star Wars movie and the sequel to one of the highest grossing movies of all time. Thing is, it had a great opening, but once bad word of mouth got around it started consistently under-performing Rogue One, which was only a (pretty good) spinoff.
And Cinemascore is such a great metric. Everyone knows Transformers 3 and its A rating are the pinnacle of cinema.
Directors of good movies don't have to defend them on Twitter. No amount of defense from Rian will change that his movie was poorly written, unoriginal, boring garbage that makes Attack of the Clones look good.
