I don't think I'd look at games like WWIIO or Planetside for the battlefield stuff in Huxley.

If you've sampled any 64-player Unreal mods, it's probably going to feel like that, that frenetic and arcade-ish. Quake and Unreal are always the comparisons the designers make for the speed, not clunky MMO games.

It's in Unreal Engine 3 and uses many of the engine's core FPS rules for hit box and stuff, so it's not hard to extrapolate what it's going to feel like if you played UT3. Definitely not as "PC"-feeling as Planetside, more like flashy console FPS but in MMO size.

I guess it's about as MMO as Guild Wars is. Big towns and outposts where people can chat/sell/dance whatever, plus PVE missions, plus a lot of dedicated PVP modes including clan/map possession stuff.

Point being, it's a helluva nice option to have 100 vs. 100.

Yep, it's a MMO. You can do the usual dungeon crawling instance PVE stuff in a 5 man party, and you can PvP in small maps for 5 vs. 5 and 8 vs. 8, or bigger maps 16 vs. 16 and 30 vs. 30, and the huge territory battles with vehicles in 100 vs. 100.

What I'm starting to resent about normal MMO games is the total lack of skill in combat. It's more like robotic rock-scissors-paper with hotkeys and stat rolls. I want super fast shooter action skill with characters I can level up and gear up. Fingers crossed that Huxley is the game.

Surprised Gamespot didn't pick up on the confirmation in a recent Play magazine that Huxley - yes people, long lost Huxley - is going to receive the 100 versus 100 patch specifically for the US version in late '08. In Korea they don't really care for large scale FPS like we do here in the West, so Webzen built their server cluster infrastructure (for the 30 vs 30 and 100 vs. 100 battles) specifically for the US market release. Game has small party instances for missions like MMOs, but also big crazy Battlefield-ish battlefields with vehicles.

100 vs. 100, my friends, is awesome. If you could run Gears PC or Unreal Tournament 3 PC on high settings, Huxley is going to look good on your machine apparently as it's right in that UE 3 tier. If you have a Crysis-worthy PC, the article says that Webzen is including full dynamic shadows that beefy Dx10 cards can enable. Entry level (a.k.a. low or mid) is 7-series GeForce Dx9 cards.

Hah, no thanks. I'm going to play Huxley on a 4870 x2. Anyway, 100 vs. 100 battlefields will be live in Huxley US version. Hooray. Now just cross your fingers (bigtime) that NHN USA doesn't screw up Huxley. This is hopefully going to be a sweet modern day MMO Unreal.
