[QUOTE="james007_14"]I will put my .02 cents in this discussion. Buying used game isn't as big of issue as piracy. With Piracy nobody wins because they are stealing the game and nobody gets compensation. With used games someone is reselling their copy. It is their choice if they sell it themselves or trade it in to gamestop so that they can buy a new game. There is nothing wrong with it because they bought their copy and they have a choice with what they do with it.sSubZerOo
Wrong :|, if you actually read the terms of service and EULA.. Your buying the permission to use their intellectual porperty.. You don't actually "own" the copy, do you honestly think the majority of the money you pay for a game is specficially towards teh physical disc and case?
EULA's don't hold up in court and most of them are just comicali buy used games to support companies like gamestop who are going to get the shaft from video game companies in the future and it saves me money so i can buy more games[QUOTE="rr2Real"][QUOTE="MajorGamer531"]
Perhaps you are right. I will concede that the legal side should be left as is. I am still going to encourage buying new games to support developers though.
(PS: Yeah thats right, first time ever anyone has conceded on gamespot)

Support companies like Gamestop? If anything they are far worse then the actual devs.. They allow trade ins and give you as alittle as $10 or $15.. Then sell it back up to $45 or $50 (retail being $60)..
um they're in the business of making money and they have to deal with overhead if you don't feel like you're getting your money's worth then go to ebay or amazon they're not the only place you can trade in gamesi buy used games to support companies like gamestop who are going to get the shaft from video game companies in the future and it saves me money so i can buy more games[QUOTE="rr2Real"][QUOTE="MajorGamer531"]

To devs used games is as bad as piracy its simple as that, they are not getting anything from the sale of of a used game, and the sale of used games is more rampant than piracy. The topic never said which is more legit but which is more of a threat (I assume to devs). So console users spin it how you want you are still hurting the industry.

you honestly thing Used games are hurting the industry and not skyrocketing development costs and bad management?
USed game is a problem in costing them more possible sales.. And its something we can measure especially when used games at best can sell as litle as $5 or $10 from the new retail game.. Furthermoer its one of the easiest ways to raise profits, there ar ea select few easy to use systems that will seriously f up the used game industry.. That I am certain will be used next gen..
i wasn't going to pay full price for the game so it's not a lost saleno renting games is worse. but alot of games are only worth a rental. some not even that. the devs need to step it up!!!!
yea but that would be too much work for them XD video game companies are becoming nothing but giant scams luckily i hardly buy any video games these days Or it would be nice for dev;s to take a good look at their game before just saying, yup, $60 here kthx. There are some dev's that will release a game for $40 because they know it might be short content wise, or it just wasn't a big bugdet game. that's why i wait until most games are like 25 used before i buy them... then i don't feel like i've been cheatedwhen you buy a used car the money doesn't go back to the manufacturer... so why should the money go back to video game companies?[QUOTE="rr2Real"][QUOTE="MajorGamer531"]
I didn't suggest removing the ability to sell anything you buy. Just that distributors like Gamestop not to reap all the profit on the sale of used games. And I don't believe you can directly compare the sale of video games to the sell of cars or houses. Cars and houses are based more on physical value. Games are more like books or movies.
