Price is not a concern, I just want something that has great battery life, not too heavy, and I want great wi-fi connectivity. I'm will not go Mac. Any reccomendations guys?

I've been out of the loop about PC hardware for a while now, so I really need some help on purchasing a Desktop computer for college. Just some Q's I have...
XP or Vista?
Is 1gb of RAM still standard?
Graphics card is not important at all, just some integrated stuff should do fine.
Just go ahead and throw out your ideas guys, and I'd really appreciate it.
If money is absolutely no object as you say, then just go to town and get yourself a QX**** processor and two 8800Ultras in SLI.
However, if you don't have a couple thousand dollars to spend, get an 8800GT and either a Core 2 Duo or Quad depending on how much you can spend.
Building a computer is about as hard as using Legos.
