@punksterdaddy:@TeknoBug: The default order for comments is bugged atm too - it's showing oldest first rather than newest first. If you change the sorting order to something else then change it back to "latest" the new comments that aren't just replies to old ones will show up as well. Hopefully this will be fixed swiftly once the weekend is over, and thankfully has minimal impact on articles - reposted ones like this one aside.
@Primeyuri Nah, I know I normally try to make a character that fits a sort of back-story that goes with them at times. I don't really have any sort of consistent features across characters I make either (race/gender and even general appearance change a lot - it's more about making something new/different for me with each character I make) - I either mould them as a character in their own right, or if I just want to get into the game I'll just use the default settings - or only change a couple major ones and ignore fine tuning. I don't really have much interest in recreating myself or anyone else in my life in the games I play, it's not even something I've ever considered doing. I think the only consistent thing across characters I make is that they don't look out of place in the game world, but that doesn't really mean much tbh.
The 1st day and a half or so of the PC alpha aside, I've not had much trouble with matchmaking in the alpha - it's a bit on the slow side at times, but normally only takes 5-10minutes. Still too long for how short games are tbh, but it is only an alpha, and the load times are pretty bad atm too tbh. Many people have had far more games than me in that time frame too.
My net connection isn't even that good but it runs fairly smoothly...though I do get the odd disconnect. They've had 2 brief periods of stress testing the servers during the alpha so far, and considering they recently extended the alpha (now ends at 8PM UTC on Tuesday the 4th) I suspect they'll be another before the end of it. Matchmaking has been considerably faster during these time periods to say the least.
@Syphen_bast @Random_Matt No Binding of Isaac? No One Way Heroics? if they're not bang for your buck then I don't know what is.
That said, admittedly not everyone likes games like Isaac, and the same applies (though to a slightly different group of players) for OWH.
Being a fan of Bastion and liking the look of this I'll definitely be getting it at some point though (quite the backlog to whittle down at least somewhat 1st), I'm sure it'll keep me occupied for a while.
@krolm @Destrond Technically, paganism is generally used to describe any non-abrahamic religion..and even more ironically, many abrahamic religions such as Christianity celebrate what were originally pagan holidays. Even the equinoxes and solstices were pagan holidays (though they have a more factual meaning), much the like the festival of the dead, now known as hallowe'en is a pagan holiday..most other holidays also have pagan links, though most have been long since forgotten by the general populace.
Ultimately, not including paganist traits of some form would be incredibly difficult when using any sort of religion/mythology in a game.
@Pac1Man @bezza2011 To be precise, Northern Ireland (which is actually just the north east bit, really) is still considered to be part of the UK, with the rest (being the vast majority of Ireland) of it being the Republic of Ireland, which is not part of the UK, but yeah, there's no such conflict any more as far as I'm aware.
Northern Ireland has been in it's current devolved governmental state as part of an agreement to keep the peace since 1998 or so and there hasn't been any significant conflict since then to my knowledge. Iirc the bulk of the trouble occurred in Northern Ireland rather than the Republic to begin with as well, though it was related to the IRA and other things, so it's not like it was exclusively a Northern Ireland issue.
@Ehggsz @jaoman69 Yeah, and not really a surprise either tbh - seen as the original xbox would naturally be called the XB1 for the sake of making it clear which xbox you're referring to when talking about an xbox..the very idea of trying to name the 3rd console they made the xbox one (xbox all-in-one would've been better, seriously, and that's a terrible name) was foolhardy and there was no way anyone was going to stick with such a name for any real length of time.
Think of it this way: the consumers are throwing microsoft a bone by naming their new console for them, seen as they'd clearly already running out of ideas if they're basically reusing names already; in that sense, it's rather fitting.
@MateykoSlam @jd7904 lol, as funny as saying that duke nukem forever took forever to release is, it was only 14 years in the end, and it was remade from scratch a few times, so I think that would void the score bonus :P
