Humanity loves violence. Isn't virtual violence better than actual violence? I saw a study somewhere that said virtual sex games keep a percentage of sex criminals from recommitting crimes. Who's to say it doesn't work the same way with violence? I know I feel less violent after watching the MK9 X-Ray moves on Youtube or killing Nazis in Wolf3d (I still play it to this day.)

@SecularSage Lord of the Rings online does this. My wife and I got into it for exactly that reason. We pay $30 every three months and we get all the stuff unlocked and then use the in-game earned (or bought but we don't do that) points to buy cosmetic gear and such.
