Here's the problem though: every online multiplayer game needs a private match/bot match capability equal to the PvP modes from the start. A lot of people want to play the game, but not against other people for various reasons. Accessibility is supposed to be a big deal, but developers and even the community are the biggest opposition to that. How someone plays THEIR game is irrelevant to anyone else. In many cases, playing against bots is much more difficult than real players, with the bonus of no toxicity, cheating, or afk.

Coalition Studio just fixed this very issue with Gears 5, after making 2 highly anti-consumer products before it. For those who think bot matches ruins online matches... No it doesn't. Gears (Epic) pretty much always had it and a healthy population, Halo too. Those who will play competitive, will, those who can play privately will or won't play at all, the competitive scene is never affected.

Pro-consumer accessibility options should never be an argument, and giving players an equal representation offline as available online is not up for debate. XP, content, achievements/trophies should all be earnable in private lobbies, this eliminates boosting in social lobbies, dropping out halfway through matches, and creates a better experience for both PvP and PvE fans. There is literally no person with a good brain who can be against this. The Sea of Thieves community is, but I said 'with a good brain'... They've all shown they're toxic morons.

Lmao... Okay Eddie.

I will say Phil has been good for XBOX, but he's not been good for gaming as a whole, gamers in general, and definitely not good for the ego of Xboys the world over. This article is a clear example of blatant Xboy delusional realities, and it's so funny, yet so cancerous to the gaming community, that it shouldn't be ignored.

For starters, Xbox has zero exclusives, this is a fact that cannot be argued no matter how you try to ignorantly change the definition. Exclusive means one platform, the last Xbox exclusive to exist was Halo 5 in 2015. There hasn't been one since and there won't be one again. This was confirmed by an arrogant Aaron Greenburg, a smug Phil Spencer, and a confused Matt Booty.

Phil took Xbox 3rd party too, in 2017, and confirmed it on stage at E3 that year. He also recently confirmed it yet again during the Bethesda acquisition; "Bethesda games will launch day one on platforms that have access to Gamepass"... Platforms, meaning multiple, the very definition that defines MULTIPLATFORM GAMES. It cannot be any easier to understand than that. Yes, blah blah blah, the Xbox ecosystem, I get that. You need to be in the Nintendo ecosystem to enjoy Breath of the Wild but BotW is NOT an exclusive game, it's available on 2 separate platforms. I do not need a Switch to play it just as I do not need an Xbox at all to play anything from Xbox.

Finally, Gamepass.... That anti-consumer garbage. This is how he's taken Xbox 3rd party and as much as I hate how naive gamers and journalists are, it will end up on Nintendo and Playstation. The free tv app is coming soon as well. Xcloud already has taken it to mobile devices, again loudly screaming 3rd party as Xboys have their fingers in their ears. But still, Gamepass... It's like it's 2002 all over again and here we stand, Xboys ready to **** up the gaming world all over again. All of this is easy to research, incredibly easy to understand, and you'd have to be a special kind of person to see it otherwise, but that's the unabashed truth from a real gamer, not a fanboy.

Phil Spencer has been good for Xbox, I can't deny that because I see reality, but he's been incredibly anti-consumer for gamers, and it's sad that "gamers" and "journalists" like Eddie here are too brand loyal to see it.

Here's what's funny, it's absolutely hilarious... Phil took Xbox 3rd party and confirmed it on stage at E3 in 2017. This is a fact, it's easily researched. He confirmed that he wanted to focus on more screens and made it clear he didn't care about selling boxes. The last Xbox exclusive was Halo 5 in 2015, another fact, and there hasn't been one since, yet a 3rd fact. This is the funny part though; all this announcement did was reconfirm what he said in 2017 about transitioning to a 3rd party.

These games will come to any PLATFORMS, meaning more than one (exclusive means one, no matter how you try to change it by say like adding 'console' in front of it) where Gamepass is available. So on day one these games will all launch on no less than 5 individual, separate platforms. No the "ecosystem" doesn't mean a thing, I've been in each of the Big 3's ecosystems since the beginning and each one until now always had valuable exclusives making them worthy purchases.

So for any real gamer, if you want exclusives today you go to Playstation and Nintendo. If you want power, full BC, and forward compatibility you go PC, and if you want to continue burying your head in the sand and ignoring real facts stay with the industry laughingstock, Xbox.

For the record, I own 2 of each console every gen, my 2nd PS5 is arriving tomorrow, and Xbox still hasn't given any reason up through 2023 to buy in yet. Real gamers need real reasons to invest, and from a gamers perspective, Xbox has failed for the last time. Also, incredibly proud to be one of the smart ones NOT supporting anti-consumer services like Gamepass!

Death Stranding isn't 'console exclusive' Eddie, it was always a multiplatform game. Also, Microsoft took the Xbox brand 3rd party to try and remain relevant so they could push their anti-consumer service Gamepass. They haven't had an exclusive (fact) since 2015 with Halo 5 and long confirmed to not have any coming for Series X. Adding 'console' to try and add value is false advertising and very poor journalism, which of course is a marketing trend Microsoft started to fool their fanbase. Sadly it worked.

@alastor529: Ouch, imagine being so butthurt about what people enjoy that you'd defend infringement, theft, and unofficial resources used illegally. Really puts things into perspective doesn't it?

For all the uneducated, the day they launch is when they become current gen. It doesn't matter what games they play, what exclusives they have, who does or does not have one, availability, etc. The day they launch they are factually current gen and the older boxes move immediately to last gen.

The only right answer is the day they launch and anyone who says otherwise simply isn't intelligent enough to bother with. Stop making up definitions, Phil Spencer has done enough of that for everyone the last few years and gamers everywhere are tired of it.

@sleepnsurf: Nobody is denying that, so why mention it on an Xbox related article? Anyone with any intelligence knows paying for something means it isn't free no matter how hard you try and twist the justification.

Ouch... Falsely advertising PAID games through a PAID service as free. You really need better writers or at least fact check before you post. I've heard all the arguments, but the simple fact is if you're paying for something it factually isn't free. Any opinion against that is based in ignorance and fanboy denial. I'd suggest no more blatant false advertising.
