Eventually? Sure - if we don't blow ourselves up or pollute our own children before that. We've come an incredibly long way in just the last 150 years. Imagine where we'll be in another 150.
Well it used to be as no one can afford to drink there anymore :(
I can really...... But actually funnily enough, I took the folks down there this time last year. 2 pints. a lemonade for the mother + a cheese platter was the equivalent of 37 pounds. My dad couldn't believe it. 37 quid! It may be liveable, but it aint very visitable :P
Blimey...
Anyway - I was only playing a wee devils advocate - a little cynisism borne out of visiting all of those Melbourne bars with their uniform bohemiam uniqueness. The next time someone opens up a bar down chapel and think it would be cool to have a stuffed animal, a couple of bikes knocking around and some old paddels on the wall and thinks it's 'unique' I'll be offering some interior dec advice for free.

Aaaah you make some fine points, old chap. It certainly isn't so cheap anymore, and that must have been a bit of a fright for the folks lol. I also couldn't agree more about the "unique" decor. If it's like that everywhere, it ain't unique!!!
Regularly the worlds most livable city (usually second or first).
World Sporting Capital
And also i live here :P

*cynical ex-pat response*
Liveable by some arbitary measurements (used to be most liveable - when it was cheap and transport wasn't so sh!t)
World sporting capital... well it is a fantastic sporting city, although not sure if you could say it's the world sporting capital as most sports are aussie
...I just wish it wasn't just miles from the rest of world. That's a big :( for me anyway
I take it you never ended up finding those glorious beer-filled watering holes then? I know you wouldn't be :( if you did hehe :P.
