Why?

Teenaged

Because most Americans consider themselves Christians and I assume most OTers are Americans. So it's saddening to see how so many OTers are atheist,

So?

The demographics are either off or you are "reading" them wrongly.

Whats sad about that?

I really don't think most Americans are very concerned with religion at all and when surveyed will give the religion they were born into; it's more of an ethnic or cultural thing than an actual set of beliefs for most Americans I know; the truly religious are I would say decidedly a minority

When you have billions of years and when reactions occur in parallel all across the surface of the planet, the "chance", if one can call it that, becomes substantially greater than zero.

GabuEx

Hmmm excellent point. I guess since the world is so beautiful and full of wonder I just like to believe that there was/is something else behind it other than just chance. Chance just seems wrong to me lol. My 8th grade science teacher did always teach that the "number 1" rule of science is that anything can happen anywhere at any time for absolutely no reason, I thought it was a joke.

But that's the thing, that's why I put "chance" in quotation marks, because it wasn't chance; there were natural laws that led to the creation of organic matter on Earth; it wasn't just a biological cell as they exist today popping into existence out of nowhere.

indeed you are right! not from nowhere but from the glorious Hand of Our Lord God! for mayor, the rap slayer, the hooka layer

Back on topic, Manning is being tortured, you can't argue that. Why though? Well my theory is they want him to crack and say Assange forced him, or helped him do it. Since the US can't actually do anything to Assange due to Freedom of the Press in the US.

Manning isn't being tortured, unless you consider the way most other troops confined in the brig are treated torture. The military usually isn't as nice to people in confinement as civilians are to people in jail. But at the same time, most of Manning's supporters are saying he's being tortured to demonize the military and suggest it's revenge for his alleged crimes.

23 hours of the day being in solitary confinment for 7 months (he hans't been on trial yet). THAT IS torture. He may have done an act of treason, but this is inhumane. I expect stuff like this from China, or Saudi Arabia. Now if he where detained in a secure area but still had social contact, i wouldn't even mention it.

seriously. solitary confinement has very negative psychological repercussions pretty much worse than many kinds of torture

Do let me remind everyone here that wishing for someones death is against GS's ToU. M'kay?

Nah Assange has nothing to do with Manning's treatment. US cannot charge Assange with treason. He's not a citizen.

No, but if Manning "cracks" then they may charge him with espionage.

EDIT I'm refering to Assange

no, they may not. the worst case scenario for assange is that he had some kind of contact with manning before manning downloaded all of those files, in which case some prosecutor could begin to make the case that assange encouraged manning in all this. however, it's pretty clear that didn't happen. the NY Times almost got in trouble for publishing classified information until the Supreme Court ruled that media outlets can't be punished legally for publishing such information if they did not have an active rule in the initial procurement of that information.

for that matter, have you ever thought about how complicated math is? I think that proves God is real. also, I don't really understand it very well, but I would venture that organic chemistry and all the sciences are clear proof of God, even though my understanding of all those sciences is tenuous at best

I've been talking to this girl I like and its been going OK. The problem I seem to have gotten myself into is that she thinks I'm really cute but when I try and get any where past that I hit a wall. Is this a problem that anyone else has had? Can you be to cute and reach the FZ?

Cruse34
the FZ will never be reached, nor ever will the BFD or BFG for that matter. this is a worst case scenario you are probably dealing with; consider a course of antidepressants and/or antipsychotics
