i played the original Shadow Of Chernobyl at a friend few years back, but never finished it, but now i'd like to play it again. Only that now there's more STALKERs out...

i hear that i can forget about Clear Sky right away, so wich one; Call Of Pripyat or Shadow Of Chernobyl?

i'm practically playing it first time, so wich you think would offer a better experience? also, wich one has a better multiplayer scene, or do they even have any? i know it's more about singleplayer, but i did like the simple mp in the beta (or demo?) years back.

i know they don't both cost that much anymore, but i just have time for one of them anyways.

[QUOTE="normal_gamer"][QUOTE="Mister__Awesome"]Does not sound normal. Make sure your PS3 has enough space in the back to prevent overheating, other than that I don't know what to tell you. What PS3 model you have? I suspect if it being the older ones, perhaps the hiccup is caused by that.Mister__Awesome
It's a 40GB original PS3,and yes my PS3 has enough space on all sides to prevent overheating issues. But what makes you think that older PS3's cause hiccups?

The Slim models run a bit better when it comes to energy consumption, so that is why I assume that. I may be wrong, it could be something else, but if I were to guess it would be that. Try cleaning out the dust (if anything) other than that I do not know what to tell you. Best of luck.

i've experienced exactly the opposite. my friends PS3 slim keeps crashing way more often than the original i'm using. but yeah, nothing more you can do other then blow the dust out from the unit.

one more vote for i5. i'd go with AMD only with a budget build, but that's just me.

1. it will render to the resolution stated in the back cover of the game, wich is usually 720p. even if your display settings on PS3 are 1080p.

2. upscaling on PS3, as far as i understand, is meant for movies only. even if you could upscale the game signal to 1080p, those jaggy edges would still be there; it doesn't change the game's resolution, just the signal.

the second 2 :P. set it for 1080p. that's the best for PS3. when starting a game, PS3 automatically sets the output signal to 720p, if the game doesn't support 1080p. your monitor might do even better than 1080p, but it doesn't matter, cos PS3 can't.

3. yes, that's normal. nothing you can do about it :/

[QUOTE="BaconB1ts123"][QUOTE="NiHM"]Lol...nice one. Everyone here gets it but him. I gave it a shot in the other thread, but it just falls on deaf ears. I can understand why he likes a small screen, but he just doesn't care to acknowledge that our reasoning behind liking large screens is just as valid. If he loves his 24" monitor at "the correct viewing distance," then good for him. I'm glad that he's happy with his choice. Maybe someday when he is able to have a larger screen he'll see things differently.Jinroh_basic

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I loved my 24" monitor when I was on work course but at home I want a big screen to enjoy movies and games. It only really annoys me because he posts on every forum how his monitor is just as good as a 50" tv.

this is another thing which i don't understand... what's all this bickering about huge screen vs small screen? isn't the screen size the only difference?

yes it is. but larger screen from the same distance means larger pixels. 50" with 1080p movies works great with "livingroom-distances" imo. still looks very sharp.

Yeah im starting to go off rockstar a little lately aswell. It depresses me.hotfiree

i thought so too, but after seeing those gameplay videos, i really got interested with this. it seems to have a good open-world gameplay with hunting and stuff. GTAs have big cities, yeah, but there's pretty much nothing meaningful to do other than the missions them selves. it kinda makes the big world pointless and it doesn't reward exploration. we'll see if this makes any change in this.

as said, it's simply because consoles lack the power to run games in 1080p, unless it's some game that is otherwise graphically lighter.

wich is a little shame really, cos console games look pretty ugly with 720p on anything bigger than 32". they have to cut down graphics from elsewhere too with modern game engines, but they propably usually start with keeping the game in 720p. and they keep "downgrading" until they hit the 30fps (or something) sweetspot.

IF it actually costs that much, it would mean that it would be a killer performer. they would NEVER sell it for that price, if it wouldn't be worth it, cos they have ATI's 5000-series to beat.

and, according to rumors, it will not be a killer performer:

"Getting back to the selective showings of the GTX480, there is a good reason for it. The performance is too close to the HD5870, so Nvidia will be forced to sell it at HD5870 prices, basically $400. The GPU isn't a money maker at this price point, and at best, Nvidia can price it between the $400 HD5870 and the $600 HD5970. The only tools left to deal with this issue are PR and marketing as the chip is currently in production."

Source, but yes, just rumors.

PC beta has a mortar strike for recon class, wich you can use with laser designator. don't know about airstrike like that, though.
