@Xyekenvort @Baelath Aggregate scores will always be more valid than single reviewer ones. Unless you and the reviewer have very similar tastes, its better to rely on the crowd.
By the way, GS scores are almost always lower than the average. Sounds like an editorial mandate which is even less respectable than being a fanboy.
Last of Us scored 95 on Metacritic, (+15 than GS).
@hochstreck Not quite following your argument. So, you're saying that only games from series with proven track records should be considered for production? So, rinse and repeat and repeat and repeat? Do you work for EA (Madden) or Activision (CoD)?
I'll say it again, a game company can't coast on their big sellers. Capcom is a great example of that. For a company that has been such a success in the past, that is a real shame.
Incidentally, Demon's Crest has since become a cult classic and is considered by many to be an undiscovered gem from the SNES era. Why didn't it sell at the time? Who knows. Who cares? It was 1994 for shit's sake.
@hochstreck @powerdesignkid GnG has had financial and critical success in the past, and so has Gargoyle's Quest. Also, Maximo underperformed but still sold over a million copies (PS2 + PSN). It was far from a flop. Ultimate GnG was a port (cheap to make) that probably made money, also (check out PSP prices). People "buyed" them, in other words.
Sticking to "safe" series and rehashing them is exactly what has put Capcom in its current situation. They have some great series, why not use them?
