The most recent Minecraft snapshot is here, and it's a good one. Each snapshot showcases new mobs, features, and building types, as well as anything else the developers like. It's a good opportunity to test how the new features will play out without disrupting the game too much The snapshot 22w13a adds in the adorable Minecraft ally mob.
The allay is a brand new creature that's a kind of adorable blue sprite. They're not just friendly, but actively useful as well. You can give them things, which will gain you an additional friend who will help you collect the item from the area around it. They're a bit odd, for sure however we believe they'll rapidly become one of the internet's favourite mobs.
It's easy for you to see the potential of these partners from the stunning appearance they present while reading a book. But you can also observe their other applications by observing their behavior in the dark. Pyramids 'll see more players using their unique qualities soon.
This Minecraft snapshot doesn't have the humble Allay. 22w13a also brings back the introduction of old cities. These are structures that are found in the Deep Dark that you can explore to find their secrets. Alongside the new Swift Sneaking enchantment which you will find in special chests, you'll also discover an entirely new block called Reinforced Deepslate.
There are a few different bugs fixed, including where locks on chests are within chest boats, and some other things pertaining to frogs too. There are also a number of game event changes, which are being renamed in order to make them more "grammatically consistent." If you're interested in going into the details of these updates, then you'll be pleased to know you can do it by reading the official announcement here.
That post also explains how to install the snapshot if would like to play around with the Minecraft Allay yourself. Be aware that doing so can corrupt your world, so make sure to practice safe save protocols when doing so. You know, back that world up.
