@templecow90999: Crazy thing though, for me Elden Ring has become my favorite video game of all time. I love the souls formula so of course I have my bias there, but I thought From really knocked it all out of the park with the huge open world. It reminded me of BotW but with the difficulty that Souls games come with. I thought BotW was really fun as well. But then Nintendo repeated it with this new one. I'm glad they added things in here that I won't spoil but it doesn't really feel like enough given that it is the same map.

Well whatever. I'm still having some fun with it and the hilarious creations on youtube that people are making are fun to watch. It's just not a 10/10 masterpiece best game of all time for me.

I'm more disappointed by the fact that this new Tears of the Kingdom is very much like Breath of the Wild. I know it is going to be an unpopular opinion to go against the grain on a new Zelda, but so much of this new game is recycled content. Same formula of going to all the towers to map out the world, going to the shrines for bite-sized puzzles, same moblin enemies here and there in there scrappy forts (with added winged beasts sometimes for something new), very similar story to me, obviously the map is very much the same as before just now it has been tweaked and landscapes have been added of course, and dammit! even so much of the music has been recycled from BotW.

Perhaps it's my fault for replaying BotW last year to do a more complete run but so much of this new game feels exactly like the previous one that I've gotten so disappointed by it. I still am having fun and it's not like it's a bad game at all. But it feels almost like the same game....like dlc. I'm sorry to succumb to that sentiment but I can't help but feel like it's just an expansion. And I'm disappointed.

@davillain: hmmm, but at what point do you draw the line though? 90? 100? Surely $100 is too much money for one video game. And yes I know they have been selling games for that much but its either collectors editions or ultimate editions bundled with all future dlc.

$70 for a base video game is too much. Especially considering the quality hasnt changed either since last gen. There are still buggy, broken release titles like Redfall and Jedi Survivor. I would've been pissed if I had blown my money on that garbage.

The floodgates being opened to the penis crafting in this game is fuckin hilarious. Gotta say, i dont think nintendo intended or knew it would happen.

@ConanTheStoner: oh dont worry dude. Im not pissed at you or anything. I had this thing preordered for a while anyways and besides like i said, after gift cards i really only spent 10 bucks.

And again, its not that I hate all these elements. I just didnt think Nintendo would literally keep them all the same with a unique spin on them in this new one. I thought they would change up how they put in puzzles. I thought they would change up uncovering the map. But it almost feels like I would get to a new shrine or tower and Nintendo is basically saying "alright, here this is again. You know the drill" and it kinda sucks.

It is what it is. I guess i will look at it as really neat botw dlc considering thats all i really spent on it anyway.

@ConanTheStoner: See dude, I didn't hate all those things I listed about BotW. I thought it was cool that they did all that to combine all these different things to do. But now its all back. Same exact things. Again. All over to do once again. Just like before. I feel sorta cheated that Nintendo would just copy and paste it all back. Sure they've been slightly modified. The towers are canons that shoot you up and the shrines have different puzzles than botw, of course. But the fact is they just redid it all.

I guess I was hoping for much more different ideas here kinda like Majoras Mask was totally different to Ocarina and Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Each new game in this series felt fresh and totally new.

This is just Breath of the Wild remix....

Oh well. I'll keep playing because its not like botw was a bad game. But 10/10 best game ever for just more botw is crazy world to me. I cant believe this.

I cannot believe im saying this but I am extremely disappointed. I am getting close to 10 hours into it but it feels almost exactly the same as botw. Sure they added the new mechanics with fuse, ascend, etc. Theres a new story that still feels similar to botw somewhat. Theres obviously the sky islands and something else that i wont spoil....but i mean, its the same damn map. They changed things, mixed things up with where structures are, added the gloom here n there, new enemies. But so much of this game feels exactly like breath of the wild. Much of the music and sounds are recycled from botw. The shrines are here again. They have the assassins creed towers again to sync with and uncover the map over again. Its all so damn similar. I cant understand the overwhelming praise this is getting. I really hope it gets better the more i play it because just another botw is a huge let down. So glad i got this for only $10 with gift cards. I would be pissed after playing this far and i paid 70.

Gosh, so many OSTs that are amazing. I listen to so much while I work too.

Off the top of my head: Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Skyrim, FF6, 7, 9, Chrono Trigger, pretty much anything Nintendo makes like Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong Country, etc., Persona 5, Octopath Traveller 1 and 2, The Sims 1 Build Mode music, Disco Elysium, Deus Ex 1, The Witcher 3, Axiom Verge, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, Hotline Miami 1 and 2, Hollow Knight, Ori games, Metal Gear Solid 1-4, Silent Hill 2....

Think that's all I can think of for now. Of course there's tons more that I love hearing but those are my go-to soundtracks when I wanna just listen to some good shit.

@ConanTheStoner: Hey Conan, I've seen Nintendo say that the map is largely the same except for the obvious sky islands and, of course it being a new game, they have to mix things up on the old map from BotW. I was wondering from your experience playing, how similar is the world to that of BotW and does it kinda sour the overall experience of it being the "same" map as before (excluding the sky island regions of course)?

That's really the only thing that kinda stinks for me. I can't think of too many games that have the same map as a previous iteration. So when I heard and saw the overworld being very similar, I was kinda disappointed.
