@pelvist: True. Many people are willing to buy this crap. I feel threatened by all these multiplayer microtransaction games. If they continue to sell more than singleplayer games why would a game developer want to make any more singleplayer games? They had rather go for the easy money. After all, business is about making money.

I sincerely hope that a quality singleplayer game like, say, The Witcher 3, has generated more money than crap like Fallout 76 ever will (microtransactions included). But I don't know.

@dxmcat: I get your point. It is just that is a lot easier for companies to lure gamers to spend a lot of money on microtransactions if it is a social game (online/multiplayer). People want to own the same skins etc. as their friends. When somebody spends 1000 USD or more on, say, Fortnite, I say it is no longer about enjoying gaming as such, but rather about being social and submitting yourself to the bandwagon effect.

I don't get any excitement from multiplayer games. If other people do, fine. I just hope their excitement is based on actual gaming.

Betheseda used to be one of my favorite companies, but since Fallout 76 things have gone seriously wrong.

I have always said that multiplayer / online gaming is the curse of gaming. Instead of hardcore gameplay and immersive single-player experiences, we get some superfluous crap that is increasingly focusing on profit-making instead of passionate gaming.

And with Fallout 76 we have another example of this curse.

@robert_sparkes: Until Dawn is scary alright. I would definitely call it a horror game, and a fine one at that. What makes it even scarier is that there is no retry option. If a character dies, he dies for good.

@guntster22: I agree with you. Absolutely loved Far Cry 5. But most gamers don't agree with us, so it probably won't be remembered as a classic. Witcher 3 is more likely to take the place.

I strongly suspect Death Stranding to become GOTY, though it most likely doesn't deserve it.

Star Wars looks pretty decent. I'm always excited about Star Wars games , being a huge fan of the (original) movies.

Death Stranding. I'm not excited about the game itself, but I am REALLY interested in reading the reviews and also in learning from the day one purchasers on Gamespot what they think. I will certainly not buy the game on day one.

2020 looks very promising indeed with the new consoles coming and AAA titles such as Cyberpunk and TLOU. My money is on Cyberpunk becoming GOTY or maybe even Persona 5 R.
